Brigitte Macron: Who is the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron?

Emmanuel Macron 's wife Brigitte has captured headlines across the globe after she appeared to push the French President in the face as the couple arrived in Vietnam for the start of a Southeast Asia tour. In a now viral video, Brigitte Macron appears to shove her husband, before he descended from the presidential plane on Sunday (26 May). She remained hidden behind the plane's fuselage, blocking any view of her body language. The couple then descended the steps together. An Elysee official played down the moment, denying it showed an argument between the couple: "It was a moment when the president and his wife were relaxing one last time before the start of the trip by having a laugh." After hitting headlines on Sunday, The Independent has taken a closer look at Brigitte Macron's life. She met her now-husband when he was a student at Le Providence, a Catholic school in France, where she worked as a drama teacher. She was 39 at the time they first met and he was 15. Brigitte was married to banker André-Louis Auzière, and the couple have three children, Sébastien, Laurence and Tiphaine. The now French President began an affair with Brigitte, who is 24 years his senior. His parents had believed their son was dating his teacher's daughter, Laurence, until the truth came out through a family friend. Shocked, the Macrons removed their from the school, but he and Brigitte kept in touch while he was in college. The pair eventually married in 2007 when he was 29 and she was 54. Becoming a stepfather to her three adult children, he told them at the wedding reception: 'Thanks for accepting us, a not-quite-normal couple.' The French President previously called his wife his 'anchor', saying she kept him focused in his job. In an interview with CNN, Mr Macron said: 'For me, it's very important for my personal balance to have somebody at home telling you the truth every day. 'Access to truth is one of the main challenges. Somebody with her deep convictions and knowing you for what you are and loving you for what you are, not for what you represent or your role or your honours. That is very important to me.' In an interview with Elle magazine, Brigitte said she and her husband are 'just like any other couple'. She said: 'We agree, we disagree. We argue, we stop arguing. It's very fluid.'

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith in dispute over schooling

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith are locked in a legal battle about their daughter's school. The former couple - who split in October 2023 after almost four years of marriage - have agreed a divorce settlement after working with a mediator to create a temporary schedule for the 50-50 custody of their five-year-old daughter Juno, but they are unable to agree on where the youngster will be educated. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Jodie wants a judge to force the 'Dr. Odyssey' actor to abide by a court order giving her the power to choose Juno's elementary school. She wants the youngster to move somewhere new next year and, after researching the school, spoke with Joshua about it and made sure it was close enough to his home, but claimed he has refused to agree. The terms of the divorce settlement will see the former 'Dawson's Creek' actor pay $2,787 per month in child support but no spousal support because he and the 38-year-old actress had settled on a lump sum. In addition, the 'After Yang' actress wants Joshua to pay $75,000 for her attorney fees in the row over schools. In December, Jodie accused her estranged husband for not giving her any child support while their divorce case was still pending. She alleged in court documents obtained by TMZ that he had been due to pay $8,543 a month in child support and $28,641 a month in spousal support. In the paperwork, Jodie claimed she has been trying to keep their separation amicable but accused her estranged husband of dragging things out, unnecessarily increasing her legal bills, and making it impossible to support their daughter without his financial assistance. She noted Joshua had made significantly more money than her during their four-year marriage and claimed the 'Affair' star had "reneged on [a] promise" he'd made to her. She wrote: "[Joshua] promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother." The 'Queen and Slim' star accused the 46-year-old actor of trying to get her to agree to a settlement that is less than she feels she deserves, and as well as seeking spousal and child support in her new legal request, she also wants a court order to have Joshua pay $250,000 for her attorney fees and forensic accounting costs.
