What you have to say about the news of the day
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in eThekwini is sounding the alarm over the state of eThekwini, host of the Africa Tourism Indaba. This world-class event, the largest tourism exhibition on the African continent, has called eThekwini home for the past five years, bringing with it immense economic benefits and job opportunities. | Thabani Ndlovu DA councillor ■ ■ ■ KZN (police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi) is doing a great job. We need to put him in our prayers daily. South Africa needs men and women of stature, those who can stand say not under my watch. That man must clean KZN as he is busy now after KZN, he must be elevated to be the national commissioner so that we drop the level of crime. In him we believe and trust. | Thabo Mokubedi ■ ■ ■ Clever move (for the government to go to the USA) , this country is a united country, belonging to all who live in it. We have practiced democracy since 1994. We have a culture of human rights and there is no evidence here that our government kills other sections of the population. | Emile Mohare ■ ■ ■ KFC has become a big rip off especially the Springfield in Durban branch with their chicken shrinking in size with price increasing. | Anand ■ ■ ■ Your uber/e-hailing bike delivery is not delivering your groceries, but also your kids' drugs. They no longer provide food delivery services, they now deliver drugs. Be careful people. This is from an operation in Rosebank that SAPS and JMPD conducted this week. 15 unroadworthy bikes were also impounded. | Farieda ■ ■ ■ Floyd Shivambu will never stop. He has been a sellout. MK Party must take him out of the party early. | Sephekgola ■ ■ ■ It's the laziness of our justice system that is the cause of all this. If the police did do their jobs like prior to 1994, we shouldn't have been in this mess. | Xola ■ ■ ■ MK Party is my home. | Tutuse ■ ■ ■ Senzo Meyiwa's trial lawyer is now a joke. Please find nobody guilty and close the case. | Joe Sap. ■ ■ ■ So much talk about the Afrikaners. Let them go. We are fine without them. Can we talk about the illegal foreigners that are flooding our country as so-called refugees? Can we clean our own backyard before looking at the neighbours. | Daily News reader ■ ■ ■ Kindly help me to be permanently employed by the department of education. I'm a 50 years old, fully qualified foundation phase teacher with a Degree. I'm the bread winner at home and taking care of my 80-year-old mother. I'm working under contract. Riding on the campaign, 'South Africa Awaits — Come Find Your Joy,' this instalment of Africa Tourism Indaba will be hosted in Durban for the last time this year. It was launched on Wednesday and will be hosted on May 12-15 at the Durban ICC. At the launch, Councillor Nkosenhle Madlala, chairperson of Governance and Human Capital in the eThekwini Metro, said, 'We acknowledge the resilience and power of recovery that Durban has shown, following the devastating floods and unrest. We are glad to be celebrating our enduring spirit, as we welcome the world to our city. The Africa Tourism Indaba presents a variety of opportunities, heritage and innovation. 'The tourism industry faced challenges; however, it is thriving, this is a powerful platform and convergence of ideas.' Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille highlighted that KZN was the mirror of Africa's warmth, resilience and potential. 'In this spirit, we cannot wait to welcome various delegates from across Africa and around the globe to the eThekwini Metro in the province of KwaZulu-Natal for this year's Africa's Travel Indaba trade show. Africa's Travel Indaba is more than an event. It is our collective voice and stories echoing across the globe. From its origins over four decades ago as a local platform, Indaba has grown into the most vibrant travel marketplace on the African continent,' De Lille said. Chairperson of the KZN Tourism and Film Authority (KZNTFA) board Dr Sibusiso Ndebele shared, 'Our current contract for hosting ATI expires this year and we are hopeful that when the next contract is announced, that Durban and KZN will once again win the bid, as we believe that the city should be recognised as the permanent home of ATI. 'And this year's ATI is going to be even bigger than last year's showcase. As always, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, taxi and shuttle and tour guiding services and shops will reap the benefit of hosting ATI in Durban.' Africa's Travel Indaba serves as a one-stop marketplace for discovering and sourcing a diverse range of African tourism products and experiences. With over 297 unique offerings, 1 200 exhibitors from across 26 African countries and 908 vetted international buyers representing 55 global markets, the event provides tailored networking opportunities and pre-scheduled business to business meetings – already totalling 7430 confirmed engagements. Buyers gain unmatched access to curated, diverse, authentic, and emerging travel products for their customers. For more from Berea Mail, follow us on Facebook, X and Instagram.
