CBE hosts BCEAO delegation to showcase Egypt's leading banknote printing facility
As part of Egypt's commitment to strengthening ties and fostering collaboration with African nations, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) welcomed a delegation from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) for an in-depth exchange on banknote printing operations. The visit provided the BCEAO delegation with valuable insights into the establishment and advanced capabilities of Egypt's state-of-the-art Banknote Printing House, recognized as one of the most sophisticated facilities in the Middle East and Africa. The visit is part of the BCEAO's efforts to leverage Egypt's expertise in developing its own national printing facility. The delegation toured the Printing House in the New Administrative Capital, observing every stage of banknote production—from initial design to final delivery at the Cash Center. They also explored the facility's production capacity, which not only meets Egypt's domestic needs but also serves other countries in the region. During the visit, BCEAO officials examined the cutting-edge technologies integrated into the Printing House's operations, as well as the facility's high-level security measures designed to prevent counterfeiting. They were also briefed on the stringent quality control protocols in place, ensuring precision and durability in banknote production through rigorous testing at every stage. Additionally, the delegation learned about the facility's dedicated Research and Development (R&D) efforts, which drive continuous innovation, enhance production efficiency, and support seamless currency circulation. This marks the BCEAO's second visit to Egypt's Printing House in less than two years. Their previous visit took place during the African Currency Forum, hosted by Egypt in 2023, where they first explored the facility's capabilities. Once again, the delegation reaffirmed the Printing House's status as a world-class hub, equipped with the latest global technologies and setting new standards in banknote production.
