Groundbreaking scheduled for Africatown Welcome Center
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Construction on the Africatown Welcome Center will kick off with a groundbreaking next week.

Elected officials will join other community leaders and stakeholders at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, to break ground and celebrate the center's construction.
The event will take place at 1959 Bay Bridge Cutoff Road, Mobile.

The City of Mobile, in partnership with civil engineering company Mott MacDonald, has led a community-driven design effort that helped to create the look and feel of the $5.1 million facility.
