Dhamar's agricultural sector celebrates al-Wilaya anniversary
Dhamar – Saba: The Agricultural Sector in Dhamar governorate today held a cultural event to commemorate the anniversary of al-Wilayat Day. The event, organized by several agricultural entities including the General Company for Potato Seed Production and the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension, featured Dr. Abed al-Bail, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension. He underscored the importance of celebrating this anniversary, highlighting its significance in reminding attendees of the importance of al-Wilayat (guardianship/allegiance) to God, His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the nation's leading figures. Dr. al-Bail attributed the current successes of the agricultural sector to this sincere commitment, viewing a return to the principle of Wilayat as the correct path towards liberation, victory, and confronting national challenges. Dr. Hassan al-Khawlani, Director General of the Research Sector at the General Authority for Research, discussed the significance and meaning of the principle of guardianship as a pivotal event in Islamic history, establishing the nation's path after the Prophet. He pointed out that the Yemeni people's victories, pride, empowerment, and strength in confronting the "American and Zionist enemy," along with their leadership in supporting the Palestinian people globally, are direct results of Yemenis embracing the path of guardianship. He emphasized that sincere allegiance to God, His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the "flags of guidance" creates a strong, victorious nation resilient against all conspiracies. He also reviewed hostile plots aimed at corrupting the nation and undermining its morals and values. Field day for wheat harvest in Dhamar City Directorate
Dhamar – Saba: The Agricultural Sector in Dhamar province organized a field day for wheat harvest in Al-Qa'mah area, Manqidhah sub-district, Dhamar City Directorate. During the event, which was attended by local farmers, agricultural leaders, and development officials, Eng. Hafez Al-Junaid, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Sector in the province, highlighted the importance of such field activities conducted under the Farmer Field Schools (FFS) project. This initiative is implemented by the Agricultural Sector with support from the Executive Unit for Managing Agricultural Project and Initiative Funds. He explained that the field day aimed to facilitate the exchange of agricultural expertise among farmers and agricultural extension workers, emphasizing the need to apply this knowledge practically. This approach supports efforts to expand the cultivation of wheat, corn, and legumes, aligning with broader goals to achieve food security and self-sufficiency. Meanwhile, Eng. Fouad Al-Kouri, Agricultural Extension Officer in the governorate, and Eng. Ibrahim Al-Mahdi, Director of the Agricultural Sector in Dhamar Directorate, underscored the significance of Farmer Field Schools as a participatory, hands-on learning method at the farm level. They noted that FFS serves as a sustainable framework for agricultural and developmental activities, involving farmers, extension services, agricultural research, and other stakeholders in the development process. Additionally, Eng. Khaled Al-Atawi and Eng. Abduljabbar Al-Aswad, facilitators of the field school in the area, reviewed the activities carried out within the wheat farmers' field school. These included meetings with farmers to identify challenges, raising awareness about incorrect agricultural practices, and providing corrective guidance. They explained that the field school focused on educating farmers about proper agricultural practices, such as land preparation, soil tillage and sterilization, selecting and testing high-quality seeds, irrigation methods and scheduling, types and methods of fertilization, pest and disease control, environmental analysis, plant inspection techniques, and signs of crop maturity. The school also provided guidance on seed selection for the next season, post-harvest handling, storage, and marketing. Additionally, it promoted modern agricultural technologies, their role in reducing operational costs, increasing productivity, improving quality, and ultimately boosting profits. Jawf opens bids for wheat harvesting equipment
Jawf - Saba: The Tender Committee in Jawf province, headed by Governor Faisal Haider, convened on Tuesday to open the tender envelopes for the procurement and supply of agricultural equipment and machinery specifically for wheat harvesting. This initiative falls under the first phase of the locally funded Agricultural Expansion Project in the province. During the meeting, attended by Yahya al-Quh, Chairman of the Services Committee; Mahdi al-Dhamin, Head of the Agricultural Sector; and representatives from the bidding companies, the Tender Committee approved the referral of the submitted bids to the Technical Analysis Committee. This committee will be responsible for a thorough review and evaluation of the offers based on the established terms and criteria outlined in the tender documents. Governor Haider emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to the specifications detailed in the tender documents. He also directed that the analysis results be promptly submitted to the Adjudication Committee for the completion of contracting and procurement procedures in accordance with the relevant legal framework. He underscored that this project aligns with the directives of the leadership to promote agricultural development and achieve self-sufficiency. Discussing activities of campaign to combat foot-and-mouth disease affecting animals in At Ta'iziyah District
Taiz - Saba: The Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate for the Development Sector, Abdul Wasa Al-Shamsi, chaired a meeting to discuss the activities implemented within the campaign to combat foot-and-mouth disease that affects livestock in At Ta'iziyah District. The meeting was attended by several officials in the agricultural sector, where they reviewed the level of community awareness about the importance of livestock and ways to protect them from diseases. It was also agreed with the Department of Animal Health and the veterinary team to prepare awareness brochures to enhance breeders' awareness of prevention methods during the implementation period of the project. Al-Shamsi stressed that the campaign comes in implementation of the directives of the Local Authority Leadership, and is funded by the Agricultural Finance Unit, in cooperation with the Agricultural Sector, the Cooperative Union, the Bonyan Foundation, and the Condolence Cooperative Society. He stressed the importance of receiving reports from other districts to take the necessary measures to confront epidemics affecting livestock. The meeting also reviewed the progress made in the project, and the number of cattle and livestock benefited, in addition to discussing the field challenges that hinder implementation and work to address them to ensure the success of the campaign.
