Teen motorcyclist killed in crash with lorry making illegal U-turn
SHAH ALAM: A 17-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing into a lorry making an illegal U-turn at Batu 12, Jalan Kapar near Jeram yesterday.
North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said his department received the report at 4.45pm.
The accident occurred while the teenager was riding his motorcycle from Kapar towards Jeram, Kuala Selangor.
"Investigations found that at 4.35pm, a lorry driven by a local man from the direction of Kapar was making a U-turn at the location.
"The motorcyclist, who was riding from behind, was unable to avoid the lorry and collided into the right side of the vehicle.
"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a statement today.
Initial checks revealed that the teenager held a learner's licence and was on his way back from a driving course in Klang.
The location only permits light vehicles to make U-turns.
"The 44-year-old lorry driver was detained before being released on police bail, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
