20 cars, 3 motorcycles destroyed in workshop fire
A Selangor fire and rescue department official said it was estimated that the fire had destroyed 70% of the workshop structure. KUALA LUMPUR : A fire broke out at a workshop along the Bukit Jalil Highway, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Selangor, today, destroying 20 cars and three motorcycles. Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said 21 personnel from the Puchong, Subang Jaya, Seri Kembangan and Damansara fire stations were deployed to the scene following a distress call at 10.56am. 'Our men arrived at the location at 11.04am and immediately began efforts to put out the fire. 'The fire involved a class B building used as a car and motorcycle workshop,' he said in a statement today. He said after the flames were extinguished, it was estimated that the fire had destroyed 70% of the workshop structure. Mukhlis added that no casualties were reported and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

Bomba rescues 18 trapped by water surge in Hulu Langat
HULU LANGAT: The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department rescued 18 individuals trapped in a water surge incident at Sungai Lepoh here on Sunday (May 11), Sinar Harian reports. Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar told the Malay language daily that they received an emergency call at 5:09pm. "Seven personnel and officers, along with a fire engine from the Fire and Rescue station, rushed to the scene located about 30km from the station," he said on Sunday. Ahmad Mukhlis also said the incident involved 18 individuals, comprising three men, eight women, and seven children, who were stranded due to the water surge. "We immediately carried out operations to evacuate all the individuals to a safe area. All of them were successfully rescued by 6:32pm. "One of the individuals, a woman in her 30s, experienced breathing difficulties and was handed over to the Health Ministry for further action," he added.

Four injured in factory boiler explosion
SHAH ALAM: Four workers suffered burns when a steam boiler machine at a palm oil factory in Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor, exploded. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said upon receiving a distress call at 8.55am yesterday, they dispatched personnel from the Bestari Jaya fire station to the scene. 'Four men were injured in the incident – one local, one Bangladeshi and two Nepalese – aged between 27 and 38. 'The fire caused by the explosion was put out before our personnel arrived,' he said in a statement, Bernama reported. Ahmad Mukhlis said the factory workers had been heating water in the machine when the explosion occurred. All the victims were taken to the Tanjong Karang Hospital, with one of them being treated in the red zone.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the factory workers had been heating water in the machine as part of the factory's operations when the explosion occurred.
