Drinking session turns deadly: Man killed in fight with colleague
KUALA LUMPUR: A 37-year-old man was killed after a fight with a colleague at a scrap metal shop off Jalan Ipoh, here yesterday.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said they were alerted to the fight at 11.33pm.
The victim, a Malaysian, is believed to have been involved in an argument with a Myanmar national.
Police found the victim shirtless while holding a parang in his left hand.
"There were injuries on his right shoulder, left side of his head, neck, left chin, and a puncture wound on his shoulder," Ahmad Sukarno said in a statement today.
Initial investigations found that before the incident, the victim and the suspect were believed to have been drinking alcohol together at the premises before an argument broke out.
"The suspect fled after the incident and is now being hunted. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.
Conviction for murder is punishable by the death penalty or imprisonment for a term of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years.
If not sentenced to death, the offender shall also be punished with not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
