KUALA LUMPUR: A security guard was killed in a machete attack after arguing with a friend in Taman Intan Baiduri here last night. Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said police received a report on the incident at 9.23pm. "It is understood that an argument broke out between the victim and the suspect, who left the scene but returned shortly after to attack the victim with a machete." He said police arrived at the scene within three minutes and found that the 44-year-old victim had already died from his injuries. "Preliminary investigations revealed that prior to the incident, the victim, a Malaysian man, had gone to the location and met with a group of men outside a place of worship. "The group was said to be drinking together when the altercation occurred." The victim's body was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police are currently tracking down the suspect.

PETALING JAYA: A Nigerian man who allegedly bit off part of a police officer's left ear has been remanded for four days. Sentul district police chief Asst Comm Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the 38-year-old suspect, who does not possess valid travel documents, will be held in custody until next Tuesday (April 29). He added that a urine test revealed the suspect had tested positive for drugs. "The officer involved is still undergoing treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he said, Sinar Harian reported on Saturday (April 26). The incident took place at 10.03am on Friday (April 25), when the policeman was escorting the suspect to the Sentul police headquarters after he was detained for causing a disturbance at a clinic on Jalan Kepong, Sentul. However, the handcuffed suspect suddenly turned aggressive while being placed in the back of a police car and bit the officer's left ear. The case is being investigated under Sections 325 and 353 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties. Investigations are also being conducted under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
