Arab foreign ministers start arriving in Baghdad for Arab Summit

Baghdad ( – The foreign ministers of Egypt, Sudan, the UAE, and the Comoros arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday to attend the Arab foreign ministers' meeting in preparation for the Arab Summit, which will be held in the Iraqi capital on May 17. Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister for Administrative and Technical Affairs Ahmed Al-Dulaimi received Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport and expressed Iraq's appreciation for his participation in this important Arab event, according to a statement released by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. Al-Dulaimi also received the Minister of State within the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar, and emphasized the strong relations between Iraq and the UAE. He also highlighted Baghdad's desire to promote bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries. Additionally, the Iraqi diplomat received Sudan's Acting Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry, Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union of the Comoros, Mohamed Mbaye, upon their arrival at Baghdad International Airport. Al-Dulaimi stressed the depth of Iraq's connections with Sudan and the Comoros, as well as Baghdad's commitment to expanding collaboration in different areas. The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, said in a press conference that the participation of Arab leaders and officials in the Arab Summit demonstrates their determination to unify the Arab position and supports Baghdad's active role in the region. In addition to Arab leaders and senior officials, the Arab Summit will be attended by 20 Arab organizations, as well as the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Spanish prime minister.
