Al-Sahaf: 5 Iraqis Released in Libya for Illegal Migration
Baghdad – INA The Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced today, Thursday, the release of five Iraqis who had been detained in Libya for illegal migration. Al-Sahaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The release of the five Iraqis came after three months of efforts, with daily monitoring that was fraught with complexity and risks. As a result, the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Government of National Unity in the State of Libya - Tripoli, succeeded in releasing five Iraqi citizens who had entered Libya illegally with the aim of illegal migration through Libyan territory and from there to Europe." He added, "The Iraqi Embassy in Libya provided medical services and housing, and granted them laissez-passer passports to enable their voluntary return to Iraq." He pointed out that "the embassy had previously succeeded in releasing dozens of Iraqi migrants during 2024 and early 2025." He pointed out that "the embassy's efforts are ongoing, and in line with the priorities of voluntary migrant return, we have announced, via the embassy's website and its Facebook and Twitter platforms, a warning to young migrants of the need to exercise the utmost caution and vigilance to preserve their safety and security, and to prevent them from being deceived by these networks that threaten their safety and security. The embassy also affirms its continued efforts to release additional migrants and return them voluntarily to Iraq."

Al-Sahaf: Libya commends Iraq's efforts in managing ethnic and political diversity
Baghdad-INA The Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said today, Monday, that Libya commended the efforts of the Iraqi government in managing ethnic and political diversity. A statement by the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: that "The Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tripoli, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, met with the member of the Libyan Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields." "Al-Koni welcomed the reopening of the Iraqi embassy in Libya," praising "the strength of ties between Baghdad and Tripoli," and commended "the efforts of the Iraqi government, especially in managing ethnic and political diversity." He pointed out that "the meeting discussed the latest developments in the situation in Libya at various levels, and the efforts made by the Libyan Presidential Council to achieve stability." Al-Sahaf also reviewed "the Iraqi experience," referring to "the efforts made by successive Iraqi governments to overcome crises and confront challenges, with the aim of achieving a more secure and prosperous future for Iraq and its people." For his part, "Al-Koni praised the state of stability that Iraq has recently witnessed," appreciating "its return to practicing its pivotal role at the regional and international levels." Al-Koni stressed that "the Iraqi experience can be a model that can be used to support stability and establish the foundations of peace in Libya," noting "the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields to achieve common interests."
