Al-Sahhaf: Seven Iraqis Voluntarily Returned from Libya Due to Illegal Migration
Baghdad-INA The Iraqi Embassy in Libya announced on Friday the return of seven Iraqis who had entered Libya with the aim of illegally migrating to Europe. The Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli, keen to implement the priority of voluntary return, succeeded, after intensive efforts, in voluntarily returning seven Iraqis to Iraq." He added that "the return of the Iraqi citizens took place in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Government of National Unity in Tripoli and the Foreign Relations Committee of the Iraqi Parliament."

Iraq and Libya Stress the Need to Unify Efforts to Support Stability and Security in the Region
Baghdad - INA The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, stressed on Wednesday the need to unify efforts to support stability and enhance security in the region. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, met with Taher Al-Baour, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government of National Unity, in the capital, Tripoli." The statement added that "the meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and discussed issues of common interest, which would contribute to developing cooperation in various fields. The importance of continuing diplomatic consultation and coordination between the two sides on regional and international issues and enhancing the exchange of expertise between relevant institutions in both countries was also emphasized." The statement continued, "The two sides discussed mechanisms to support the Iraqi community in Libya and ways to facilitate consular procedures for them, ensuring the provision of necessary services more efficiently." The statement indicated that "the two sides discussed efforts to activate joint committees between the two countries and work to sign memoranda of understanding in various fields, which would enhance bilateral cooperation and achieve common interests." The statement concluded, "The two sides stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination on regional and international issues, and the need to unify efforts to support stability and enhance security in the region, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two countries."

Al-Sahhaf: Two Iraqis were recently released in Libya for illegal migration
Baghdad - INA The Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced today, Wednesday, the release of two Iraqis who had been detained in Libya for illegal migration. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Sahhaf said: "After forty days of efforts, the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Government of National Unity in the State of Libya-Tripoli, succeeded in releasing two Iraqi citizens who had entered Libya illegally with the aim of illegal migration through Libyan territory and from there to Europe." He added, "The Iraqi Embassy, after coordination that was fraught with great complexity, succeeded in preserving the lives of the citizens who had fallen into the traps of human smuggling and trafficking networks. The Embassy secured their release, provided them with medical services, and granted them laissez-passer passports to enable their voluntary return to Iraq." He continued, "The embassy had previously succeeded in releasing dozens of Iraqi migrants during 2024 and early 2025." He pointed out that "the Iraqi embassy, in accordance with the priorities of voluntary migrant return, announced through its official website and its platforms on Facebook and Twitter, a warning to young migrants of the need to exercise the utmost caution and vigilance to preserve their safety and security and prevent them from being deceived by these networks that threaten their safety and security. The embassy also affirms its continued efforts to release additional numbers of migrants and return them voluntarily to Iraq."
