Rotary Egypt Begins Construction of EGP 200 Million Vocational School in Damanhour
In a significant step forward for technical education in Egypt's Delta region, Rotary Egypt announced today the commencement of construction for the Rotary Egypt School for Industrial and Vocational Education in Damanhour. The project, first unveiled in October 2024, is now entering its execution phase and stands as one of the region's largest non-governmental educational initiatives aimed at aligning vocational training with labor market demands. With a total investment of EGP 200 million, the school is being built to support Egypt's Vision 2030 goals and the government's strategy to expand the role of civil society in sustainable development. The project is funded through contributions from Rotary Clubs, international grants, the Central Bank of Egypt, and private sector partners as part of their corporate social responsibility programs. 'This project marks a transformative leap for technical education in Egypt,' said Dr. Ahmed Magdy, Assistant Governor Coordinator for Rotary Egypt – District 2451. 'Our goal is to create a school built to the highest standards, where students receive both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training, equipping them to meet real-world labor market needs. This initiative embodies Rotary's commitment to impactful, sustainable community service that directly supports economic development.' According to Dr. Magdy, the project has successfully completed its planning phase, which included detailed feasibility studies, strategic partnerships with public and private sector entities, and securing necessary approvals. Construction, currently underway in partnership with Sabbour Consulting, covers classrooms, workshops, and laboratories. Upcoming phases will focus on outfitting facilities with equipment and training faculty and administrative teams. The new school will offer specialized programs in advanced industrial fields, including electrical installations, solar energy systems, metal casting, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) technologies. The curriculum is designed to bridge the skills gap between traditional technical education and the evolving requirements of both local and global industries. The school is located in Kom Al-Nawam village, part of the national 'Decent Life' initiative aimed at revitalizing rural communities. Upon completion, the school will be managed in cooperation with the Directorate of Education. This initiative comes at a crucial time, as the demand for skilled technical labor continues to grow. In 2024, Egypt saw more than 35,000 graduates from industrial education programs, including approximately 4,000 from Beheira Governorate alone. The project was formalized in October 2024 with the signing of a cooperation protocol between Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira, and Dr. Sherif Adeeb, Governor of Rotary Egypt. In addition to his Rotary role, Dr. Ahmed Magdy serves as Vice Chairman and Partner at Country Homes for Development and Consultancy, a leading real estate firm specializing in sales, marketing, and business development with over 30 years of experience — a background that bolsters his leadership in advancing Rotary's ambitious social initiatives. ظهرت المقالة Rotary Egypt Begins Construction of EGP 200 Million Vocational School in Damanhour أولاً على المفتاح الاقتصادي.
