King Mohammed VI urges Moroccan pilgrims to uphold Islamic values and national pride

King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, has called on Moroccan pilgrims to embody the sublime values of Islam, which include sincere brotherhood, absolute tolerance, patient kindness, and active solidarity. In a message addressed on Wednesday to the national pilgrims traveling to the Holy Places of Islam for the year 1446 (AH), the sovereign urged the travelers to be worthy representatives of their country, Morocco, and «of its ancient civilization, proudly carried by your ancestors throughout history». «A civilization founded on unity, symbiosis, and adherence to national constants and sacred symbols, marked by moderation and doctrinal unity», the king continued in this message, which was read by the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, on the occasion of the departure of the first group of pilgrims from Rabat-Salé airport. The sovereign added that «it is these constants and immutable values that have ensured security and stability for our country and have allowed it to continue, under Our enlightened guidance, its victorious marches towards greater progress and prosperity». Furthermore, the king emphasized that he has instructed the minister to ensure proper management of the organizational and logistical aspects of this rite, as well as those related to the religious preparation and spiritual awareness of the pilgrims. To this end, the ministry has dispatched teams of multidisciplinary personnel to accompany the pilgrims both to and from the pilgrimage: scholars, guides, doctors, and nurses, both men and women, as well as administrators. Additionally, the sovereign reminded the pilgrims of the obligation to comply with the organizational measures adopted by the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia.

Morocco-Saudi Arabia: Marrakech Hosts 2nd Edition of 'Joussour' Exhibition

The opening of the second edition of the "Joussour" exhibition, which aims to shed light on the historical relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to showcase rare Islamic manuscripts and artworks, took place on Saturday at the Mohammed VI Administrative and Cultural Complex in Marrakech. Organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in partnership with Morocco's Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, this exhibition—running until May 20—aims to promote religious dialogue between Morocco and Saudi Arabia and to spread the values of moderation and balance. On this occasion, an official delegation composed of the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Al-Sheikh, the Moroccan Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, the Saudi Ambassador to Rabat, Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, and the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, Farid Chourak, visited the various sections of the exhibition, which highlight the religious and cultural aspects of both countries. These include areas dedicated to rare manuscripts and Islamic works, historical mosques, Hajj rituals, as well as Quran recitation and Arabic calligraphy competitions. The exhibition also features interactive experiences through various technical and cultural areas, along with dedicated spaces for children. Additional sections are devoted to Saudi and Moroccan hospitality, the depth of bilateral relations under the theme "Rooted Relations," and welcoming visitors. In a press statement, Saudi Minister Sheikh Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Al-Sheikh noted that the exhibition highlights a range of activities in service of Islam and Muslims, as well as the efforts of the leaders of both nations to uphold true Islamic values, praising the strength of relations between the two countries and emphasizing their deep foundations in religion, shared traditions and customs, and mutual affection between their peoples. Sheikh Al Al-Sheikh also highlighted the humanitarian initiatives undertaken by both countries, which reflect the greatness and civilization of Islam. For his part, Morocco's Minister Ahmed Toufiq noted that the visit of the Saudi minister to Morocco reaffirms the depth of fraternal ties between the two peoples, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as the dynamic cooperation between the two kingdoms at all levels. Toufiq also stressed that this exhibition, which documents key milestones in Moroccan-Saudi cooperation, invites the public to appreciate the shared memory between the two peoples and to reflect on how to enhance this historical heritage through deeper knowledge and greater openness to contemporary contexts. ONSSA Reassures Moroccans About Red Meat Safety Amid Controversy

Rabat– The National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) has reassured Moroccan consumers about the health of the country's livestock following concerns over the safety of red meat. The controversy erupted when a breeder claimed that the meat from these animals contains a harmful antibiotic. The video, which circulated on social media, stated that the livestock requires a waiting period of about two months before consumption. In response to these claims, ONSSA issued a statement confirming that the national livestock is in good health and is regularly monitored throughout the year by veterinary services, both public and private, in cooperation with local authorities. ONSSA asserted that the use of veterinary medicines, including prescriptions and their administration, is strictly regulated. These practices are reserved for licensed veterinarians, who provide them after making a precise diagnosis and determining the appropriate treatment. Regarding vaccines, ONSSA clarified that these are biological substances designed to protect animals from diseases and strengthen their immunity, posing no risk to human, animal, or environmental health. The vaccines are exclusively administered by the office's veterinary services and private veterinarians as part of animal disease prevention programs. The national food regulator explained that antibiotics are only used in specific cases and only when necessary, under veterinary prescription after a diagnosis of illness. It added that these antibiotics are never administered preventively. ONSSA further said it is affirming its commitment to food safety by implementing an annual nationwide program that monitors veterinary drug residues, including antibiotics, in meat destined for consumption. The program involves thorough sampling and analysis in ONSSA laboratories, with results consistently showing no traces of veterinary drug residues in the meat. The animals destined for consumption undergo rigorous daily health checks in the country's slaughterhouses, supervised by veterinary inspectors. This inspection includes verifying the potential presence of traces of veterinary drug injections. After all these tests, the meat is stamped and allowed to leave the slaughterhouses only if it meets health and safety standards. Morocco has officially canceled Eid Al Adha, the Islamic ritual sacrifice of cattle, due to the ongoing drought crisis and attendant challenges that have negatively impacted Morocco's agriculture seasons and the country's entire economy for the past six years. Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq announced the news in a televised message, stating that the announcement is in line with King Mohammed VI's directives.
