GOSH7: Saudi Arabia announces 6 initiatives to develop occupational safety and health system
His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) and Chairman of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH), recently inaugurated the seventh edition of the Global Occupational Safety & Health Conference (GOSH7) in Riyadh. Running from May 4-6, GOSH7 aims to position Riyadh as a hub for accelerating international compliance and digital transformation in occupational health and safety practices. Under the theme 'The Future of Occupational Safety & Health', it supports workplace wellbeing and safer, healthier working conditions in all industries as a critical driver of social and economic progress, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. 6 landmark initiatives announced On the first day of GOSH7, Al-Rajhi announced 6 landmark initiatives aimed at developing and enhancing the occupational safety and health system in Saudi Arabia and the region. The initiatives include launching the: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. Occupational Safety and Health Standards Guide in collaboration with the General Organization for Social Insurance. National Council for Occupational Safety and Health Award. Glossary and Narrative in Occupational Safety and Health. GCC Strategic Framework for Occupational Safety and Health. National Incentive Program for Compliance and Excellence. In his keynote address, Al-Rajhi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to protecting people and ensuring safe work environments according to the highest standards, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the job market and improving quality of life. He also explained that the rapid economic and technological transformations require strengthening preventive cultures and continuously updating safety systems and procedures. He also stressed that the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health is one of the key enablers for developing an integrated system based on international standards and best practices. Shaping a safer and healthier workforce Gathering distinguished leaders, decision-makers and experts from the public and private sectors, as well as international academic institutions, the conference expects to welcome more than 8,000 in-person attendees this year, in addition to around 100,000 projected to participate virtually. This includes participants from six continents and more than 46 countries, with 190 local and international speakers leading discussions. The conference emphasizes holistic wellbeing, addressing both physical and psychological safety aspects to redefine practices for balanced and healthy work environments. By fostering productive dialogue about the latest trends and innovations, sharing best practices and exchanging valuable knowledge, GOSH7 aspires to shape a safer and healthier future for all members of the workforce. The conference program also features 20 panel discussions, 60 workshops and 40 keynote papers. Social Development Bank, RDF empower productive families
Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Social Development Bank Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, sponsored a ceremony organized by the Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Foundation for Development Finance under the theme '3 Billion and Continuing.' The event reinforced the strategic partnership between the foundation and SDB, which has been ongoing since 2014 and has resulted in over SR3 billion ($800 million) in financing, benefiting more than 200,000 productive families across various regions of the Kingdom. The ceremony witnessed the signing of several notable agreements, including the extension of the partnership with RDF to continue supporting and financing productive families in collaboration with the 'Jana Fund.' The financing portfolio, valued at SR500 million, will remain in place alongside the provision of non-financial services and training initiatives through the Dulani Business Center. These efforts aim to grow the businesses of productive families and facilitate their access to markets. Chief Executive of SDB Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Hamidi expressed his gratitude for Al-Rajhi's patronage of the ceremony. He said: 'Development financing for the nonprofit sector is a core pillar in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations operating in this space and in serving their beneficiaries. Riyadh hosts leaders in occupational safety and health from governments, academia and the business sector to shape the future of this vital field Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – His Excellency Eng. This was done in the presence of prominent OSH leaders from government entities, the private sector and academic institutions, inside the Kingdom and around the world. The Global Occupational Safety and Health Conference will be held over three days at the Four Seasons Hotel Conference Center in Riyadh from May 4 to 6, 2025. It will serve as a scientific platform to present key topics related to the future of occupational safety and health (OSH), along with the challenges and opportunities facing global labor markets. GOSH7 aims to promote a global culture of occupational safety and health by enabling constructive conversations about the latest trends and innovations, exploring best practices and exchanging vital knowledge. SAR 1.7bln in financing by the Social Development Bank in Q1 2025
Riyadh – The Social Development Bank (SDB) held its regular meeting for the first quarter of the current year, chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), Chairman of SDB's Board of Directors, and in the presence of the board members. The meeting reviewed SDB's performance during the first quarter and discussed several topics that contribute to enhancing SDB's developmental services. During the meeting, SDB presented its efforts in empowering individuals and small and emerging enterprises through sustainable financial solutions. The total financing during the first quarter exceeded SAR 1.7 billion, benefiting more than 20,000 citizens and enterprises. The total financing for entrepreneurs and owners of emerging enterprises amounted to SAR 505 million, benefiting more than 1,800 enterprises. Regarding social financing, SDB stated that the total financing during the first quarter reached SAR 504 million, benefiting more than 9,800 citizens through marriage, family support, and home renovation products. The number of beneficiaries from freelance and productive family financing reached 8,500, with total financing exceeding SAR 670 million, achieving a growth rate of 329% compared to the previous quarter of last year. As part of promoting a savings culture, approximately 17,000 new savers joined the 'Zod Savings' program during this quarter, bringing the total number of supported savers since the program's launch to 250,000 citizens, with total savings exceeding SAR 550 million in their savings accounts. In addition, 18,000 male and female entrepreneurs benefited from empowerment and development services, including capacity building programs, specialized and quality training, as well as access-to-market support. CEO of SDB, Eng. Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Hamidi, said: 'We began this year by achieving qualitative accomplishments that serve various segments of society, thanks to the support and care provided by our wise leadership to strengthen the journey of social and economic development in line with the objectives of Vision 2030. These figures reflect our commitment to supporting the national economy, enhancing the financial stability of families, and creating funding opportunities that contribute to sustainable community development.' The first quarter also witnessed the launch and activation of the corporate social responsibility portfolio through several business accelerators in partnership with Jahez, the Saudi National Bank, and ACWA Power. Additionally, a strategic agreement was signed with the "Sakan" foundation as part of the second edition of the 'Jood Al-Manatiq' campaign, aiming to provide 4,000 housing units for eligible families across the Kingdom, thereby supporting housing empowerment efforts and contributing to raising the home ownership rate among citizens. SDB also focuses on supporting promising sectors such as e-sports, gaming, and tech entrepreneurship. The value of financing portfolios for these sectors has been increased to more than SAR 1.3 billion, in conjunction with the LEAP 2025 conference held last February. This initiative supports gaming, e-sports, and IT development, under the umbrella of the National Development Fund, in collaboration with both the Saudi Esports Federation and the National Technology Development Program.

Social Development Bank signs two cooperation agreements in the Makkah Region
Makkah – His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Social Development Bank (SDB), sponsored the signing of development agreements during his visit to the Makkah region. The visit included a series of meetings and discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation with local community institutions and reviewing the bank's efforts in supporting developmental projects as part of its vision to enhance economic and social development in the region. Accompanying the Minister on this visit was the Executive Vice President of the Business Sector at the Social Development Bank, Mr. Abdullah Al-Ruwais, who highlighted the vital role played by SDB in supporting and enabling entrepreneurs, contributing to the growth of the nonprofit sector, and aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. As part of the visit's program, two cooperation agreements were signed with Al-Wedad Charity Association and Qimam Youth Association, aiming to support nonprofit sector institutions and enhance the sustainability of their members by enabling them to benefit from SDB's financial products through the Jusoor platform, fostering greater integration between the public and nonprofit sectors. The visit also included a tour of several projects financed by SDB, including Badghish for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, which specializes in providing comprehensive and distinguished care programs. Additionally, the delegation visited the Jada 30 branch in Jeddah and met with several entrepreneurs and owners of innovative startup projects. It is noteworthy that the total support provided by the bank to the Makkah region since its establishment has exceeded SAR 31 billion, benefiting 678,000 Saudi citizens, reaffirming the bank's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and ensuring the sustainability of small and emerging projects.
