PUTATAN: In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha, the Putatan Parliament Office donated 30 cows to local mosques, suraus, and government departments to support the celebration and assist those in need. Deputy Chief Minister III and Putatan MP, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, said the annual initiative reflects care for the community and strengthens the spirit of sacrifice and compassion. 'This contribution helps mosques and suraus carry out the korban and ensures underprivileged families can share in the blessings of Aidiladha,' he said during the handover at the Putatan District Office on Tuesday. He urged mosque committees to prioritise distributing meat to the truly needy, believing that sincere efforts would foster unity and gratitude among residents. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Shahelmey: JANS to send hourly water reports to UMS

Published on: Tuesday, June 03, 2025 Published on: Tue, Jun 03, 2025 By: Aishah Abdullah Text Size: PUTATAN: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya said the Sabah State Water Department (JANS) will now provide hourly water level reports for the R13 tank at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) to help the university manage its water pumping schedule. The decision follows a site visit and discussions between JANS and UMS management over recent water supply disruptions on campus. Although the tank receives sufficient water, a faulty indicator misled UMS, complicating pump operations. JANS will send hourly updates until a new indicator is installed within one to two weeks. Shahelmey also instructed JANS to log daily supply data for May, which showed sufficient water supply since May 19. A temporary pump failure between May 14–19 may have caused earlier issues. On reports of students considering legal action against JANS, Shahelmey said it reflects critical student leadership but stressed the priority is ensuring steady water supply, especially during exams. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
