'Tore the magazine…,' This actress was once beaten by her mother for doing a sizzling bold photoshoot, her name is…, got divorced after… Sonam Khan made her Bollywood debut with Vijay in 1988, alongside legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Anil Kapoor. Following that, she became popular for her impeccable roles in films like Ajooba and Tridevi. Moreover, she also captivated audiences with her classic songs, like Tirchi Topiwale , garnering popularity for her bold and charming personality. In 2024, Sonam uploaded a couple of throwback pictures from one of her bold photoshoots that wasn't approved by her parents. After these pictures came out, her mother was so enraged that she slapped her and tore the magazine apart. Once, in an interview Sonam recalled, 'When I got a tight slap! I thought I was gonna look great and was wearing a skin colour short dress which was hidden by the tall grass around. So when the images came out, my mom came with the magazine, gave me a tight slap and tore the magazine up. I may have been bold at that time, but my parents were always very protective of me. Nonetheless, I was always a rebel with a cause. At least that's what I thought!.' For the unversed, Sonam is granddaughter of the veteran actor Murad and niece of Raza Murad. Born as Bakhtavar Khan, the actress changed her name to Sonam on legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's suggestion. She bid adieu to her acting career, and moved to Europe after her marriage with director, Rajiv Raj in 1991. However, in 2001, the couple decided to part ways, followed by a mutual divorce in 2016. Sonam came back to India in 2023, and is currently living in Mumbai with her son as a single mom.

Meet Jatin Prithviraj Kapoor, The Famous TV Actor Who Is Also Kareena's Uncle
Last Updated: Jatin first stepped into showbiz as an assistant director, working with his uncle Shashi Kapoor on the film Ajooba. When you think of the iconic Kapoor family, names like Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor instantly come to mind. These icons helped shape the very foundation of Hindi cinema. Over the years, other members of the Kapoor clan, such as Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, also took the industry by storm. However, another member of the renowned family who quietly carved his own path is none other than actor Jatin Sial. Now known as Jatin Prithviraj Kapoor, he made a name for himself on television. Jatin is the son of Urmila Sial, Prithviraj Kapoor's daughter and the only sister of Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. He started his career in showbiz as an assistant director. He worked with his uncle Shashi Kapoor on the 1990 film Ajooba, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. Here's everything you need to know about the popular TV actor. Jatin stepped into the world of glitz and glam in the '90s. After his stint as an assistant director, he worked on television shows such as Tehkikaat, Vansh, Rishtey and Saans as an actor. Following this, he made his debut in Hindi cinema with Rishi Kapoor-directed Aa Ab Laut Chalen, starring Aishwarya Rai and Akshaye Khanna. Speaking about the film, Jatin told Free Press Journal, 'Aa Ab Laut Chalein was one of the most interesting parts of my life. Again, I approached Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor) because I had become an actor. Even though he was my cousin and I was friendly with him, I took an appointment via his secretary." He further recalled how the late actor asked Jatin to accompany him to America, not for an acting schedule but for assistance, which he obviously lovingly accepted. Jatin also talked about his career in television, revealing how companies would repeat him as an actor on their projects. Jatin explained, 'I got a call from Neena Gupta's office for my role in Saans (1998-99). It was a very successful show, and I got a lot of work after it. I just kept doing a lot of TV shows and never went into films. Whichever company I worked for, they always repeated me in their other serials too or extended my roles." Furthermore, Jatin shared that after the 2000s, production houses focused more on the actors' fees rather than their creativity. Shedding light on how it became difficult for him to get roles after his stint on TV, the actor said, 'In television at that time, I would say they became a little casual about the actors. It would be more about how much the actor would be charging compared to the creativity. So I took a backseat then, waiting for something better to come." As of now, Jatin has made his comeback with OTT projects. The actor was seen on shows such as Ramyug, Mismatched and Potluck. First Published: May 12, 2025, 13:28 IST

Actress Sonam Khan took to social media to share a cherished memory from the early days of her film career—revealing how an unexpected encounter with legendary actor Shashi Kapoor led to her casting in the 1991 fantasy film 'Ajooba.' In a heartfelt social media post, Sonam, who played Shehzadi Heena in the film, revealed that she was not the original choice for the role. However, everything changed during a chance meeting with Shashi Kapoor, who was so struck by her appearance that he immediately expressed she looked like a princess—leading to a quick change in casting. She reflected on Kapoor's generous and gracious nature during the film's shoot in Jaipur, particularly while filming the song 'Main Mitti Ka Gudda, Tu Sone Ki Gudiya.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sonam Khan (@sonamkhan_72) 'Shashi Kapoor ji was the epitome of graciousness, kindness, and care. We shot in Jaipur for the song 'Main Matti Ka Gudda, Tu Sone Ki Gudiya.' Whenever I struggled with a dance step, Shashi ji would gently tell the choreographer to change it, saying, 'Yeh bacchi hai, take it easy.' That was his kindness—always protective, always gracious. My costumes for the film was designed by the legendary Bhanu Athaiya ji, who also won an Oscar for her iconic work in #Gandhimovie.' The post further read, 'The crowds there went absolutely hysterical. Since this was before the age of social media, spotting actors in public was a rare event. The song was filmed at a tourist site in Jaipur —though I must admit, I'm forgetting the name of the palace. Do forgive me for that! Nonetheless, the crowd was so overwhelming that I had to be escorted back to my hotel with police protection. We later traveled to Russia for another shoot and were treated like royalty. Each of us had a Russian interpreter to help us understand the local language. Rishi ji, too, was incredibly supportive throughout, helping a new comer like me… Rest in peace #rishikapoor ji We will miss both of them for generations to come.' Sonam Khan shared this cherished memory on the fifth death anniversary of Rishi Kapoor. The actor tragically passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
