Gurgaon: In a major action against
contractual negligence
, the
Municipal Corporation of Manesar
(MCM) has imposed a fine of Rs 4.5 crore on
Akanksha Enterprises
, the agency hired for

work across the city. The agency, awarded a two-year contract worth Rs 105 crore in Feb 2023, is accused of deploying only a fraction of the required workforce while billing MCM for full manpower.
The firm, which was tasked with road sweeping, push-up rotating, and drain cleaning operations, received an average monthly payment of Rs 4.3 crore.
Between 2023 and Dec 2024, it reportedly billed the corporation for the full strength of 1,997 workers, amounting to nearly Rs 90 crore. However, internal checks revealed that the agency consistently deployed far fewer staff. tnn
