May 9 turned out to be more than just a release date for actor Akash Makhija.
Akash Makhija won over the audiences with his role in Amol Parashar-starrer Gram Chikitsalay. The series was released on Prime Video on May 9 this year. For Akash, the date didn't just mark a professional milestone, it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in his personal life. On the same day, he got engaged to his childhood best friend, Roshni Budhiraja .
To share the big news and celebrate, the couple has now dropped a glimpse into their special day. Akash posted a series of pictures from their engagement. Dressed in pastel-hued traditional ensembles, the couple looked truly smitten with each other. In one of the pictures, Roshni is seen putting the ring on Akash's finger.
Alongside the heartwarming photos, Akash wrote the date '9.05.2025" in the caption, accompanied by a ring emoji and the sweet hashtag #AkashSeMiliRoshni.
Fans and industry friends were quick to react. Actor Vikrant Massey wrote, 'Many congratulations bhai. Wishing you both happiness, health & togetherness." Meanwhile, Amol Parashar expressed his joy with a series of heart-eyed emojis.

Recently, the Half Girlfriend actor opened up about his relationship with Roshni. Speaking to TOI TV, he shared, 'Roshni and I have known each other since we were kids. What began as a simple acquaintance through our shared spiritual place—the Sant Nirankari Mission—slowly blossomed into a deep, meaningful friendship. Over the years, she became my closest friend—someone who understood me without explanations."
He added, ' We never imagined that destiny was quietly preparing a love story in the background."
The realisation of being in love struck him during the shoot of Gram Chikitsalay in Chhattisgarh. Akash shared, 'I was away for a month and that distance made me realise something powerful. I didn't just miss her presence. I missed her. I flew back to Mumbai for just a day, only to see her and returned the next when it hit me — I loved her. And to my surprise, she felt the same."
Speaking about the significance of May 9, he added, 'While one chapter of my dream came true on screen, another was beginning off-screen—with her."
Roshni is a fashion stylist and runs her own label, NUR (Noor). She designed their elegant engagement outfits herself.
On the other hand, Akash continues to build a strong presence in television and OTT. He is known for his roles in Sargam Ki Sadhe Sati, Har Mard Ka Dard and films like Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi and Half Girlfriend. He was recently seen portraying Hamid Ansari in Rajkummar Rao-starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf and Gobind in Gram Chikitsalay.
