FRU Constable Akmal Wafi laid to rest in Lunas
KULIM: The remains of Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) member, Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, were laid to rest at the Masjid Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Muslim Cemetery here at about 11am today. The casket, draped in the Jalur Gemilang, arrived at the mosque in a police van at about 9.50am for funeral prayers which were attended by more than 200 congregants and led by the mosque's imam, Shahril Adzhar Abu Samah. A sombre atmosphere filled the air as the casket was taken by FRU members to the cemetery for burial, attended by family members, friends and colleagues. Kulim police Superintendent Zulkifli Azizan later presented the Jalur Gemilang to Akmal Wafi's father, Annuar Yusof. Earlier, the late constable's body was taken from Surau Ar-Rahman at the Hilir Perak district police headquarters before being brought to the FRU Unit 5 Headquarters in Sungai Senam, Ipoh, Perak. His remains arrived at his family home in Taman Pegaga, Lunas, at 6.30am to allow family members and friends to pay their final respects. The late Akmal Wafi, a bachelor, was the eldest of five siblings and had just recently started his service with the police. He was among nine FRU members who died in an accident involving a lorry carrying stones on Jalan Chikus – Sungai Lampam yesterday. The other victims were Corporal Muhamad Akmal Muhamad, 35; Sergeant S. Perumal, 44; Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, 46; Corporal Mohd Pozli Jaudin, 41; Corporal Nurit Pandak, 34; Corporal Amiruddin Zabri, 38; Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38; and Lance Corporal Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33. Nine other FRU members are currently receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital.

Final journey begins for 2 FRU men killed in tragic Teluk Intan crash
TELUK INTAN: The bodies of two Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who were killed in the crash along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam here were taken from Teluk Intan Hospital. The remains of Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, and Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, were transported in separate hearses, departing from the hospital's Forensics Department at 10pm. It is understood that the bodies will first be taken to the Ar-Rahman Surau at the Hilir Perak District Police headquarters for funeral prayers, before being brought to the Unit 5 FRU base in Sungai Senam. Earlier, media reported that all nine FRU personnel who died in the crash involving a gravel-laden lorry along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam this morning had been identified. Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin was reported as saying the crash lso left nine other FRU personnel injured, who are currently receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital. He said all the victims were from Unit 5 FRU based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh. The FRU truck carrying 18 personnel was on its way back to Ipoh after completing their assignment for the Chitrapournami celebration in Hilir Perak.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- One of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who lost his life in a crash on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, this morning, had posted a short video while en route to his assignment at the Chitra Pournami Festival, Menara Condong, Teluk Intan, Perak. The video clip, lasting less than 20 seconds, with the caption 'gerak ke Teluk Intan' (leaving for Teluk Intan), was uploaded by the late Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, on his social media platform. It featured him and his colleagues from Unit 5 Ipoh, all in uniform, aboard the FRU truck, smiling and chatting cheerfully with each other. The clip was then shared by other social media users, before it went viral.

Late constable's video of final moments before crash goes viral
A member of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) Unit 5 who died in a road accident at Jalan Sungai Lampam, Teluk Intan, had recorded a video showing the final moments inside the truck with his fellow comrades. In a TikTok post by @Namrunchannel, the late Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar was seen uploading the video via his WhatsApp status, which later went viral on social media. Earlier, police confirmed that nine FRU members died in the accident at KM15, Jalan Sungai Manik–Sungai Lampam, Teluk Intan, on Tuesday. Hilir Perak district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, said one officer died while receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital, while the other eight died at the scene. Besides Akmal Wafi, those killed in the crash include Sergeant S Perumal, Corporal Nurit Pandak, Corporal Amiruddin Zabri, Corporal Mohd Pozli Jaudin, Corporal Akmal Muhamad, Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan and Lance Corporal Damarrulan Abdul Latif. It was reported that the FRU vehicle was on its way back to Ipoh after completing duties under Op Chariot in Teluk Intan.
