Amid the severely deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), together with Gazze Destek Dernegi, has begun distributing 450,000 hot meals to displaced families at shelters.
This initiative comes as part of its intensified efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis resulting from the war going on since October 2023 and the total halt of humanitarian aid shipments.
Dr Akram Nassar, head of QRCS representation office in Gaza, explained, 'This intervention is aimed at alleviating the tragic conditions faced by more than two million Palestinians, which exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. All service facilities in Gaza were damaged, including food security, with a looming famine if the current situation persists'.
'Today, we distributed 10,000 hot meals at shelters of Gaza City, despite the operational challenges of high prices, scarcity of food items due to blockade, and the risks threatening humanitarian workers as residential areas are bombed and civilians targeted,' he added.
