Baby goose reunites with family after taking a fall into sewer
A baby goose has been rescued after it fell into the sewer while taking a walk with its goose family. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] An Akron police officer was flagged down by a 'frantic citizen' Thursday afternoon, according to a social media post. The citizen alerted the officer that the baby goose had fallen and was trapped, calling for help. The officer called the Akron Fire Department, and the crew arrived on the scene within minutes, according to the post. Bringing the goose back up to safety, the goose scurried away and reunited with its 'anxious mother,' according to the post. The two were happy to be together again. Woman's body covered 90% in burns after fire at Ohio apartment complex
A woman in northeast Ohio has burns on 90 percent of her body after a fire broke out at an apartment complex on Saturday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The fire was reported around 8:45 a.m. in Akron, according to our CBS affiliate in Cleveland, WOIO. Firefighters were able to put the fire out and rescue a woman from the building. The Akron Fire Department confirmed to WOIO that the woman was badly burned and had burns covering 90 percent of her body. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition. AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A woman is in critical condition after a majority of her body was burned in a fire Saturday morning in Akron. Cleveland firefighter cadet dies after medical emergency According to the city fire department, crews responded to 83 Annadale Ave. around 8:45 a.m. where they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a two-story duplex apartment. They learned a person and animal were possibly inside the residence. Fire crews extinguished fire on the first and second floor. 'A female approximately in her late 20's was taken out of the structure, badly burned over 90% of her body, and was transported to the Burn Unit at Children's Hospital/Medical Center,' a news release from the Akron Fire Department said. Man thrown from vehicle dies after crash in Tuscarawas County The woman was listed in critical condition. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation at this time.
