PEO held for embezzlement
Berhampur: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested a panchayat executive officer (PEO), formerly posted at Saramuli panchayat in Kandhamal district's Daringbadi block, for allegedly embezzling over Rs 53.38 lakh in development funds without executing the sanctioned works.
The accused, Akrura Majhi (58), is currently posted at the Daringbadi block office and is due to retire in the next two years.
