Houthis vow to escalate attacks in response to Gaza school massacre
The political bureau of Yemen's Houthi movement, Ansar Allah, issued a statement expressing deep concern over what it described as a "major criminal escalation" by 'Israeli' forces, accusing it of committing horrific massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
In the statement, the group said, "The enemy's burning of the bodies of dozens of displaced people at the Al-Jarjaoui School in Gaza amounts to a human holocaust and a full-fledged war crime," warning that such actions would not go unanswered.
"We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to support the Palestinian people in their just struggle," the bureau added, declaring that military escalation will continue "until the enemy submits and completely halts its aggression on Gaza."
The statement also said that their attacks would escalate "until the unjust blockade on Gaza is lifted and humanitarian aid is allowed in without restrictions or conditions."
Gaza civil defense spokesperson Mahmud Bassal said Monday that an early-morning 'Israeli' strike on the Fahmi Al-Jarjawi school, where displaced people were sheltering, killed "at least 33, with dozens injured, mostly children".
The 'Israeli' military claimed it had "struck key terrorists who were operating within a Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) command and control centre embedded in an area", adding that "numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians".
