The Safety Training and Consulting Centre recently convened a specialised workshop focusing on occupational health and safety within Bahrain's industrial sector. The event addressed critical preventive measures, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies essential for safeguarding workers across industrial domains. The workshop underscored the importance of establishing robust safety protocols aimed at reducing workplace accidents and minimising both human and material losses. Led by certified trainers affiliated with tne Centre, the workshop attracted participation from representatives of various industrial enterprises, including those operating in the construction, energy, manufacturing, and food production sectors. The diverse attendance reflected the broad relevance of occupational safety principles across different branches of industry. Key sessions explored a wide array of procedural guidelines essential to maintaining safe work environments. These included continuous training programmes for employees handling hazardous materials and equipment, the mandatory provision of personal protective gear—such as helmets and safety goggles—and the importance of routine machinery maintenance to ensure operational safety and efficiency. Trainers also highlighted best practices in the management of industrial waste, addressing both liquid and solid by-products, and strategies for mitigating exposure to harmful emissions such as toxic fumes and airborne dust generated during manufacturing. Additional safety measures discussed included the installation of adequate workplace lighting to enhance visibility and prevent accidents, and the strict prohibition of untrained personnel from operating or approaching heavy machinery. Speaking on the sidelines of the workshop, Mr. Nawaf Al-Jishi, Chairman of the Centre, remarked that the initiative is part of the Centre's broader commitment to social responsibility, and said that the programme is being delivered in collaboration with numerous Bahraini companies, aiming to elevate awareness of occupational safety and health, and to promote the adoption of globally recognised best practices. Mr. Al-Jishi further emphasised the Centre's proactive engagement with business leaders across sectors, highlighting occupational safety and health as a fundamental component of corporate strategy, and affirmed that prioritising safety enhances employee loyalty and wellbeing, while also contributing positively to an organisation's competitiveness, operational efficiency, financial performance, and long-term sustainability.
