Ministry begins road rehabilitation works in Fahad Al-Ahmad
KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan announced the commencement of comprehensive road maintenance works in Fahad Al-Ahmad as part of a wider initiative encompassing 18 road rehabilitation projects across Kuwait's governorates. The move comes in line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision aimed at enhancing the country's infrastructure. In a press statement issued Sunday, Dr Al-Mashaan affirmed the ministry's commitment to implementing its development strategy in accordance with the highest technical standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects that enhance road efficiency and safety. She noted that the efforts fall within a broader national framework to modernize and develop Kuwait's road network. He added that the works involve laying a Type 3 asphalt layer in accordance with approved technical specifications. Engineer Abdullah Al-Kandari further noted that road maintenance operations are concurrently underway in several areas, including Blocks 1 and 4 of Al-Mangaf, as well as Street 245 in the Aqila area. "Following the completion of fieldwork and treatment, a layer of Type 3 material will be applied," Al-Mutairi explained. She further noted that treatment works are ongoing in Block 6 of Abu Futaira in preparation for asphalt paving, with the project set to proceed to Block 7 for continued maintenance. These maintenance efforts are part of Kuwait's broader push to modernize its infrastructure and ensure the country's roads meet global standards for safety and efficiency.

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly meeting on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025, at Bayan Palace under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Following the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sherida Abdullah Al-Muasherji, issued the following statement: At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet was informed that His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, had designated His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to represent him at the upcoming second summit of the strategic dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Central Asian countries. The summit is scheduled to take place on May 5, 2025, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Cabinet also reviewed a visual presentation by Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport. The presentation outlined the progress and current status of comprehensive maintenance projects on major expressways across Kuwait's six governorates, as well as internal roads in various regions. Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasized the Ministry's commitment, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and other concerned agencies, to execute these works promptly to enhance road safety and reduce traffic congestion. In response, the Cabinet commended Dr. Al-Mashaan and the teams from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport for their dedication and ongoing efforts. In another matter, the Cabinet reviewed recommendations from the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs regarding a draft decree-law to amend Article (45) of the Civil Service System, originally issued on April 4, 1979. The amended article allows a minister to grant an employee special leave, without deducting from their regular leave balance, to accompany a patient approved by the Ministry of Health for treatment abroad. This leave, with full salary, may extend up to one year and can be prolonged for an additional six months without pay. Salaries during this period shall be paid at the beginning of each month. The Cabinet approved the draft amendment and resolved to submit it to His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for final approval. Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed various items on its agenda, endorsing several of them, while referring others to relevant ministerial committees for further study and detailed reporting. Lastly, the Cabinet approved the minutes submitted by the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality. These included cases involving the revocation or withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from certain individuals, under Decree Law No. (15) of 1959 and its subsequent amendments.
