Labor Ministry: 106 Complaints of Not Paying Minimum Wage in 2025 - Jordan News
The media spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, Mohammed Al-Zayoud, stated that the number of labor complaints submitted to the "Himaya" platform regarding some private sector establishments' failure to comply with paying the minimum wage has reached only 106 complaints since the beginning of 2025. اضافة اعلان He confirmed that the Ministry places great importance on monitoring compliance with the minimum wage, whether through inspection visits or via complaints filed by workers in the private sector through the electronic platform "Himaya." He called on workers, both male and female, in the private sector whose employers are not adhering to the minimum wage to file a labor complaint on the "Himaya" platform. He explained that the platform offers the option to keep the complaint confidential and allows the worker to categorize the complaint as related to non-compliance with the minimum wage, rather than a general wage dispute. Al-Zayoud clarified that Article 46 of the Labor Law states that the employer must pay the worker's wages and overtime pay within no more than seven days from the due date. He also noted that the decision by the Tripartite Labor Affairs Committee regarding raising the minimum wage came into effect at the beginning of 2025, setting it at 290 dinars per month, regardless of how workers are paid. Al-Zayoud explained that Article 53 of the Labor Law imposes penalties on establishments that fail to comply with the minimum wage. These penalties include a fine ranging from 500 dinars to 1,000 dinars for each case where the employer pays less than the minimum wage, in addition to requiring the employer to pay the wage difference. The penalty is doubled in case of repeated violations.

368 Labor Cases Registered with the Wage Authority Unit in the Ministry of Labor in 2024 - Jordan News
Mohammad Al-Zayoud, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, stated that the number of labor cases registered with the Wage Authority Unit in 2024 reached 368 cases. اضافة اعلان He added that the Wage Authority Unit resolved 354 labor cases in 2024, noting that 14 cases remained under consideration as of the beginning of 2025. Al-Zayoud explained that the Wage Authority Unit handled 794 labor complaints during the past year, providing advice, guidance, and legal consultation to the complainants. This guidance included filing a claim with the Unit, according to its jurisdiction, or directing them to the competent conciliation courts. He pointed out that the Wage Authority Unit was established under Article 54 of the Labor Law No. 8 of 1996 and its amendments. It is tasked with addressing labor-related issues in the capital governorate. The minister has the authority to appoint an expert in labor affairs to act as the Wage Authority in a specific area, which may consist of one or more individuals. The Wage Authority looks into labor claims related to wages, including wage discrepancies, illegal deductions, delays in payment, unpaid overtime, or any wage discrimination for equivalent work, and resolves these issues expeditiously. Workers have the right to file claims while still employed or within six months of leaving their job if the termination was initiated by the worker. Al-Zayoud clarified that the Wage Authority Unit conducts mediation upon the worker's request to resolve disputes with their employer. The mediation must occur within six months of the worker's employment ending. He also noted that the Wage Authority Unit examines claims in the presence of both parties or their representatives. If the worker fails to appear, the case is dismissed. If the employer fails to attend, the case proceeds in their absence, and a decision is made accordingly. The decision is subject to appeal within ten days of notification, provided the amount awarded to the worker exceeds 100 dinars. He confirmed that the decisions made by the Wage Authority Unit are executed by the relevant execution departments as if they were judgments issued by regular courts. The amounts awarded are not subject to installment payments, and claims filed by workers with the Wage Authority, as well as its decisions for execution, are exempt from fees and stamps.
