'Supporting Palestinians in Gaza': UAE sends over 60,000 tonnes of aid, leads humanitarian efforts

The UAE has been at the forefront of international humanitarian aid to Gaza, contributing more than 50% of all relief efforts. Through Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE has sent over 60,000 tonnes of aid, including food, shelter, and medical supplies. Hamoud Saeed Al Afari, Relief Operations Coordinator for Gallant Knight 3, shared with Khaleej Times that the UAE remains committed to supporting Gaza. "The UAE remains steadfast in its support for Gaza and continues to lead global relief efforts," Al Afari stated. He further emphasised the magnitude of the UAE's contributions, revealing that 'the UAE's contributions account for over 50% of all international humanitarian aid sent to Gaza.' As part of Operation Gallant Knight 3, humanitarian aid aircraft have been dispatched from Ras Al Khaimah Airport to El Arish International Airport, carrying 32 tonnes of food supplies. The focus of this mission is to assist those in need, particularly during Ramadan. Dr. Khaled Al Khaja, Secretary-General of the International Humanitarian Charity Organisation, explained the ongoing effort: 'We are sending food packages, especially the items needed for Ramadan, to support our brothers and sisters in Gaza." He added that this is the third air mission, with previous air and sea shipments. The UAE will continue with both air and sea missions during and after Ramadan to reach as many people as possible. In addition to air and sea aid, the UAE has established a field hospital in Gaza, staffed by Emirati medical teams and volunteers. The hospital has treated over 50,489 patients and performed 1,228 surgeries. The UAE's efforts also include treating 1,000 children in the UAE and providing care for 1,000 cancer patients. To further support the people of Gaza, the UAE has donated 17 ambulances, set up 44 community kitchens, and built nine bakeries for essential food supplies. In response to the water crisis, the UAE has implemented six desalination plants, providing clean water to residents.
