Dubai Police announce 6 locations for Eid Al Adha cannons
Dubai Police confirmed that all preparations for setting up the cannons to announce the arrival of Eid Al Adha are complete, with six designated areas across the emirate. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, Commander Dubai Police Cannos, explained that the Eid cannon is a significant part of the UAE's social heritage, deeply rooted in the community's memory and consciousness. Al Amimi further stated that all arrangements had been made to announce Eid Al Adha by firing the cannons at six chosen sites: Za'abeel Grand Mosque in Za'abeel, the Eid Musallahs in Umm Suqeim, Nad Al Hamar, Al Barsha, Al Baraha, and Hatta. Dubai Police announced the allocation of seven locations across the emirate for the traditional Eid Al-Fitr cannon fire. Historically, the cannon was used as an audible signal to mark iftar or Eid, especially before the invention of clocks. Despite today's abundant digital tech, Dubai continues this meaningful tradition as a tribute to its cultural legacy. The cannon tradition is a symbol of Emirati heritage and reflects the deep cultural roots of the nation, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, Commander of the Cannon Team, emphasised. 'The Eid cannon is not just a ceremonial gesture—it represents a tradition that resonates deeply with Emiratis and UAE residents. It is a cherished part of our social fabric,' he said. Cannon locations Seven locations have been designated, as follows: Al Amimi confirmed a dedicated team has been assigned to each location, as part of the preparations for marking Eid with cannon fire.
