I went for the (S$5.50), which had satay sauce drizzled on top. The chicken was incredibly tender while the sambal packed a real kick. This was definitely both filling and super tasty. Prices for a bowl of fishball noodles here starts at S$4.50, with a medium portion costing S$5 while a large portion comes in at S$6. Choose from a few different types of noodles, like mee pok, bee hoon and kway teow. Of course, kway teow is recommended to be paired with the soup variety. Head on down to Lorong 5 Toa Payoh Food Centre Fish Soup to get yourself a heaping bowl of fish soup on a cold day. The Fish Soup with Minced Meat (S$7.50) is a recommended dish, served with thick slices of lightly seasoned batang fish and chunks of minced meat. The savoury notes of the meat complement the natural sweetness of the fish, and the soup has a clean, fresh taste. You definitely won't want to miss out on trying their chilli, which is tangy and adds dimensions to the fish soup. Zhng up your soup by mixing it in for some extra spice. Tue, Wed & Fri: 12pm – 6pm Closed from Sat to Mon & Thu What better way to complete your meal than to have a refreshing beverage to pair? Instead of going for the usual kopi, teh or Milo, how about getting some fresh, 100 percent natural juice at Healthy Fruit Juice, freshly blended to order right in front of you? The humble shop displays its fresh produce like apples, oranges, carrots, pears and assorted veggies right at the front, so you know that you're getting the real deal, and not packaged drinks with tons of added sugar. The Sugarcane Juice (S$2) is a Singaporean favourite, and the sugarcane is grinded right in front of you when you order it. This naturally sweet drink has unique grassy undertones that make it taste like unlike any other drink. Aside from offering a heaping selection of drinks like Bean + Pearl (S$1.80), Bean + Red Bean ($2) and even a Bird's Nest Drink (S$1.30), you'll be treated to all sorts of cold desserts to end your meal on a sweet note. The Bean Curd + (S$2) really surprised me—while I'd expected it to be very sweet, it was really not that sweet at all, with the gula melaka sauce lending a rich, deep, slightly burnt aroma to the smooth bean curd. The Grass Jelly + Aloe Vera (S$2.50), on the other hand, was so refreshing and jiggly. It was topped with shaved ice too, making it an even better choice on a hot day. +65 6258 2982 Daily: 11.30am – 12.30am Heng Heng Fried Carrot Cake Fried Oyster has a pretty simple menu.
