Sharjah Museums Authority showcases inclusive access at ITB Berlin
Highlighting inclusivity and cultural exchange
During the exhibition, the Sharjah Museums Authority presented its recent achievements in enhancing museum accessibility for all audiences. This includes the integration of modern technologies such as interactive screens, online booking services, and augmented reality, designed to facilitate access for all visitors, including those with disabilities. The Authority also emphasised the importance of cultural and museum exchanges, as well as the development of educational programmes to foster broader learning experiences.
New museum addition
As part of its dedication to preserving Sharjah's cultural heritage, the Authority announced that the Al Qasimia School: Museum of Education would now be part of its portfolio. This museum offers a unique look at the evolution of education in the Emirate, highlighting its historical and contemporary developments.
Interactive experience and programme highlights
The "Sawa" Museum Studies Programme, an educational initiative offering in-depth knowledge in museum studies, was also highlighted. The programme promotes cultural exchange between professionals and students. Additionally, the Authority introduced an interactive box for visitors, providing a self-guided workshop experience. This initiative encourages direct interaction with exhibits across Sharjah's 16 museums, enhancing visitors' understanding of history, art, and culture.
Virtual museum tours and digital engagement
To enhance the visitor experience, the Authority provided virtual tours of its museums and exhibitions using smart devices available at the booth. This digital experience allowed visitors to explore Sharjah's rich cultural and historical landscape from a new, interactive perspective.
Strengthening cultural diplomacy
Sharjah's participation in ITB Berlin highlights its role in promoting cultural diplomacy, establishing international partnerships, and adopting innovative solutions to improve the visitor experience at its museums.
