Summer camps offered in the Birmingham area
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — As the school year comes to an end, some parents in the Birmingham area may be looking for summer camps to keep students engaged this summer. Here's a list of some of the camps being offered: Samford University School of the Arts Summer Camps Camps are offered for various ages. More information can be found here. Alabama Ballet Junior Camp The Alabama Ballet is offering a two-week camp for dancers ages 8-12. More information can be found here. Summer Music Camps at Mason Music Mason Music is offering summer camps for various age ranges, from a preschool camp for ages 3-5 to a rock band camp for ages 13-18. Summer Camps at the Birmingham Children's Theater Birmingham Children's Theatre is offering camps for various ages, as well as a summer youth production of 'A Wrinkle in Time.' Alabama School of Fine Arts Summer Programs ASFA will offer summer camps focused on multiple categories, including math, video game design, creative writing, violin/ viola, app programming and visual arts. Details and dates for each camp can be found here. The Dance Foundation Summer Programs The Dance Foundation will offer multiple camps for different ages, going up to 12th grade. Dates for each camp can be found here. Red Mountain Theatre Summer Camps Red Mountain Theatre will offer 10 weeks of camps and intensive programs. Alabama Ballet beginning performances of ‘Peter Pan' February 28
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)– Alabama Ballet is beginning productions of 'Peter Pan' on Feb. 28 at the BJCC concert hall in Birmingham. Director Christopher Stuart has focused the show on Peter Pan's origin story, promising a captivating and cinematic performance that includes flying dancers. McWane Science Center hosting 'Big Machines Day' on March 1 'It's fun,' said company dancer Morgan Butler. 'It's a very family-friendly show. Bring your kids.' 'It really is magical,' added company dancer Isabella Renner Cowles. The show will run from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2, then again from Mar. 7 to 9. For more information, click here. Alabama Ballet to perform ‘Peter Pan' at BJCC
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Ballet will perform 'Peter Pan' at the BJCC Concert Hall later this month. Performances will be held Feb. 28- March 2 and March 7- March 8.
