#SHOWBIZ: Mas Idayu, Sufian divorced on March 4
KUALA LUMPUR: TV3 executive producer Muhamad Sufian Che Isa, 54, has confirmed that he and his wife, dangdut singer Mas Idayu, 53, divorced on March 4.
Sufian stated that the nearly three-year marriage was dissolved at the Shah Alam Syariah Court, citing a lack of compatibility.
"The gossip is true. We were legally divorced on March 4 at the Shah Alam Syariah Court," Sufian told Harian Metro.
"The reason for the divorce, I think, is that we are no longer soulmates."
"However, the relationship between us is still good as friends. But, it seems our relationship has only reached this point, and I am positive to accept this fate that has been set," he added.
"At an old age, why do we have to sulk or fight? For me, our marriage has only gotten this far."
Sufian acknowledged that divorce is never the desired outcome for a married couple, but emphasised his acceptance of it as a divine decree.
"I am still willing to continue working with her on programmes run by TV stations. We parted ways amicably," he said.
"So far, our relationship is still good even though we are divorced. I will continue to support her artistic career, including as a programme judge."
Sufian and Mas Idayu married in September 2022, marking their second marriages.
They had known each other since the Mentor 3 programme in 2008 but became closer in 2021, which led to their marriage.
Mas Idayu was previously married to actor Aman Graseka from 1997 to 2006, and they have a daughter, Nur Dayini Asyiqa, 27.
Sufian was also previously married to TV personality Intan Suraya, a marriage that also ended in divorce, and they have a child together.
