Traffic snafus after semi strikes overpass on Sherwood Park Freeway: RCMP
A semi truck loaded with logging equipment on Sherwood Park Freeway slammed into the 34 Street overpass just after midnight Tuesday causing headaches for morning commuters in the area.
The impact caused extensive damage to the overpass, said Strathcona County RCMP, adding north and southbound lanes on 34 Street, as well as westbound traffic on Sherwood Park Freeway, would to be shut down for an extensive period.
Alberta RCMP Corp. Gina Slaney said there is no timeline for when the roadways will be cleared because investigators have called on a specialist to examine the damage to the overpass.
Both Strathcona County RCMP and the Edmonton Police Service are attending the scene. No injuries were reported.
