Holly Springs residents votes for mayor in municipal primary election
HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Holly Springs voters are casting ballots to choose a mayor and alderman in the town's Municipal Primary on Tuesday.
'This is a very important election and everyone knows it, and if they don't, they should know it,' said Holly Springs resident Bobbie Osborne.
'We need to turn around the city. We need for it to have someone that has a vision as a Mayor and the Aldermen and the Aldermen at Large that wants to see that we get growth, bring new businesses to the community,' said Osborne.

Along North Holly Springs Street, many campaign workers waved to passing traffic, and posters with candidates' names were held high.
'This city, you know, stays in the news about something, so it's important for us to get out and cast our vote and try to get some things done in the city that we need to get done,' said Ishmell Edwards, Holly Springs voter.
The most interest is in the Mayor's race, where incumbent Sharon Gipson faces three challengers.
Gipson, who manages the Holly Springs Utility Department, has faced harsh criticism from the public and the State over its service to customers.
On Tuesday, Mayor Gipson met with supporters but declined to go on camera.

'The whole city, I think, is just tired of it so they want a change and that's why we're here to try and make a change,' said Jimmy Holt, another voter.
Voting ends at 7 p.m., and there will be an 'unofficial count' of ballots.
Absentee ballots will be counted at City Hall, followed by an 'unofficial count' of all ballots at the Marshall County Courthouse.
The winners of Tuesday's primary will face challengers in the June 3 general election.
