Sister of man missing in Tenerife issues update as new CCTV footage reported

The family of a man who went missing in Tenerife are due to fly out after a new confirmed sighting of the 34-year-old. Liam Hannigan, from Clifton, Salford, has not been in contact with friends or family since last Friday (February 7). He had been on holiday in the La Asomada area, but had also visited friends in Los Cristianos, one of the island's most popular tourist hotspots. His sister, Ellie Hannigan, has shared an update on her brother's disappearance this morning (Tuesday). She says new CCTV footage shows her brother walking alone yesterday. In a public Facebook post, Ellie said: "We wanted to share an update regarding Liam. While we are relieved to know he is safe, this situation still deeply concerns us as a family." Ellie also addressed 'rumours circulating on social media', stating that Liam was 'not out drinking or involved in any illegal activities', while the family are growing concerned for his welfare. "As a family, we are doing everything we can to support Liam, and we ask for understanding and compassion," Ellie added. "My family are on the first flight out this morning to hopefully find Liam and get him the help he needs and eventually get him back home. Thank you to everyone who is sharing the posts and sending us well wishes." Liam had been staying on the popular Canary Island with friends he met after flying out for a holiday with his partner on December 29. He is described as being around 6ft 1ins tall, slim and with tanned skin. He has a tattoo on his chest saying 'Family First', a small 'A' on his wrist and a full beard. Liam may be wearing a black shiny Moncler body warmer with a hood and green Croc shoes. A Foreign Office spokesperson saidt: "We are supporting the family of a British man in Tenerife.' It is understood the case has also been reported to Greater Manchester Police. Ellie told the Manchester Evening News yesterday: "He's very family orientated. He would never ever stress us out like this, it's very unusual. My mum and step dad are flying out tomorrow (Tuesday). "Even just a sighting or someone who assumes they've seen him could help. We just want him home." Anyone with information is being urged to contact police in Tenerife by making a report in English by phoning the National Police helpline on 902 102 112. An app called 'Alert Cops' can also be used to make reports in English.
