When are Shamrock Shakes back at McDonald's? And who is Uncle O'Grimacey? What to know
Don't you love it when Shamrock Shake season returns to McDonald's restaurants each year?
Guess what? It's that time of year again.
And the shakes that the fast-food chain will be serving up this year are special - they are being released as "Uncle O'Grimacey" Shamrock Shakes to celebrate a piece of McDonald's history.
Here's what to know.
They will be at McDonald's restaurants in Rhode Island – and around the country – starting on Feb. 10, according to Alessa Garrido of the McDonald's Corporation.
However, some McDonald's locations may have Shamrock Shakes as early as today, Feb. 4.
No, they will only be at locations around the country for a limited time, according to the McDonald's website.
They are green-colored shakes that appear at the restaurant every February, leading up to St. Patrick's Day in March.
They are "made with creamy vanilla soft-serve blended with our minty Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with a whipped light cream," according to McDonald's.
The shakes are available in small, medium and large sizes.
There's also the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry if you want a little bit of crunch.
This year, the shake's are being released under Uncle O'Grimacey's name.
He is a relative of the purple McDonald's character known as Grimace, who first appeared in a commercial for the chain in 1975.
"Uncle O'Grimacey is a green grimace," stated. "He wears a green cob hat, a vest with shamrocks on it, and carries a shillelagh. Every March, around St. Patrick's Day, he delivers Shamrock Shakes in McDonaldland. Uncle O'Grimacey is just one of many grimaces in Grimace's extended family."
The shakes are made the usual way, but the chain brought back Uncle O'Grimacey for publicity reasons.

According to the McDonald's website, With each Shamrock Shake sold, 25 cents will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities through March 23, 2025.
