Two Florida baseball pitchers enter NCAA transfer portal as offseason reshuffle continues
Two Florida baseball pitchers enter NCAA transfer portal as offseason reshuffle continues Florida baseball pitchers Alex Philpott and Carson Montsdeoca have entered the NCAA transfer portal, marking the latest roster movement for the Gators. Philpott, a 6-foot-6-inch right-hander from Tampa, appeared in 36 games over two seasons for the Orange and Blue, including six starts. As a sophomore in 2025, he posted a 3-4 record with a 7.30 ERA, striking out 44 batters over 37 innings. He made three starts and logged a season-high four innings against the Ole Miss Rebels on March 28. A former standout at Strawberry Crest High School, Philpott flashed early promise in his college career. He opened his freshman season with four consecutive scoreless outings and earned his first collegiate win with three shutout innings against North Florida. Montsdeoca, a freshman from Fort Meade, pitched in eight games in 2025. The 6-foot-3-inch right-hander logged 8.2 innings, striking out six while allowing seven earned runs. He made his longest appearance in Florida's NCAA Regional matchup with East Carolina, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. Both pitchers will look for new opportunities as the Gators aim to rebuild a bullpen that struggled with consistency throughout the 2025 campaign. Florida's full offseason roster changes will continue to unfold as the summer transfer window progresses.
