'Noche UFC' Mexico drought continues with shift from Guadalajara to San Antonio, Texas
'Noche UFC' Mexico drought continues with shift from Guadalajara to San Antonio, Texas Just when it looked like a "Noche UFC" event actually would take place in Mexico, those plans have been put on hold. In March, the promotion announced the third annual event that helps celebrate Mexican Independence Day would take place Sept. 13 at Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, at UFC 320. But Saturday, a change in plans was announced. The UFC announced Saturday that construction delays at the arena have forced a move to Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, on the same date. This will be the UFC's fourth trip to San Antonio. Most recently, UFC on ESPN 43 took place there in 2023. Previous events took place in 2019 and 2014, but "Noche UFC" will be the city's first UFC pay-per-view. UFC 320 marks the third annual Noche UFC event. The previous two took place in Las Vegas. UFC Fight Night 227 was the inaugural Noche event in 2023. It took place at T-Mobile Arena and was headlined by Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 2. In 2024, the promotion took Noche UFC to another level. In what remains the only combat sports event held at Sphere in Las Vegas, the promotion put together UFC 306, an all-time spectacle that was headlined by Sean O'Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili.

Alexa Grasso Posts Gruesome Post-Fight Image Following UFC 315 Loss
MONTREAL, QUEBEC - MAY 10: Alexa Grasso of Mexico looks on in a women's flyweight bout against ... More Natalia Silva of Brazil during UFC 315 at Bell Centre on May 10, 2025 in Montreal, Quebec. (Photo by) Mixed martial artists are known for showing the scars from war after a fight—win or lose. Monday was former UFC women's flyweight champion Alexa Grasso's turn to display the bruises from a one-sided loss to rising contender Natalie Silva on Saturday night in Montreal at UFC 315. Grasso took to Instagram to show off a pretty gruesome image of the aftermath of her fight with Silva. During Grasso's unanimous decision loss to Silva, she was picked apart by the Brazilian's combination of speed and striking accuracy. Grasso has displayed high-level boxing during her career, but she simply couldn't get a handle on the elusive Silva. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) During the fight, Silva connected with 65 significant strikes to just 45 from Grasso. Even when Grasso attempted to zero in on Silva to secure a takedown, the speed and explosiveness were too big of an advantage for her to overcome. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) The loss will drop Grasso to No. 2 at best for now, but there is a chance she could fall further. Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber clash on May 31, and the winner of that fight could move past Grasso in the rankings. Meanwhile, I'd expect Silva to vault to No. 1 when the new women's flyweight rankings are released since that's where Grasso was ranked ahead of their fight on Saturday. While Silva looked championship-ready in her defeat of Grasso, she will likely have to wait a while to get a title shot. Valentina Shevchenko successfully defended her 125-pound crown via unanimous decision over Manon Fiorot in the UFC 315 co-main event. It is likely she will get a super fight against reigning women's strawweight champion Weili Zhang, who is expected to vacate the strawweight crown to move up to 125 pounds. Silva's best chance is probably to wait for the winner of that fight and then to hopefully get an opportunity to challenge for the crown in early 2026. Grasso will probably get a decently long medical suspension because of the damage she took to her face, so we'll see when she will be cleared to train and to return to the Octagon. However, it would make sense for her to face the winner of Blanchfield-Barber or to face the winner of the June 14 fight between Rose Namajunas and Miranda Maverick. Namajunas-Grasso has some appeal, as it would be a battle between two former champions—and that's not commonplace in the women's division. As it is, Grasso showed her commitment to the sport and that she is a true warrior. Her return will be anticipated, but as she has now lost two in a row, the stakes will be even higher for the next fight—no matter who she fights.

Former champion Alexa Grasso reacts to UFC 315 loss: 'I'm never giving up'
Former champion Alexa Grasso reacts to UFC 315 loss: 'I'm never giving up' Alexa Grasso won't be deterred after suffering her second-straight loss at UFC 315. Former UFC flyweight champion Grasso (16-5-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC) was shut out by rising contender Natalia Silva (19-5-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in a unanimous decision loss on Saturday's main card at Bell Centre in Montreal. Grasso took to Instagram to reflect on the loss. "Sometimes you put a ch¡ng@ on someone and sometimes they put it on you 👻 I got a very good opponent!I love this sport because that's how life is, right? You lose a battle but not the war ⚔️I'm good, I'll heal my wounds, I'll return to training and keep giving it my all because I'm NEVER giving up 🔥🦾Thank you for your messages and for all the love you send me, believe me it fills me with energy ⚡I love them with my whole heart 🫶🏻" Prior to this setback, Grasso lost her flyweight title to Valentina Shevchenko in their trilogy bout at UFC 306 in September. Montreal weather: A week of sunshine is better than a kick in the teeth
It took May a while to get warmed up, just like the old clunker your trusty Gazette weather reporter uses to get around. Yet spring seems to have kicked into gear. Monday dawned at the delightfully early 5:27 and set about climbing toward a high of 21 C, with a UV index of 7, or high. The temperature is expected to dip to 11 C overnight. The rest of the week remains in the mid to high 20s, with no significant cloud cover till Friday. The long-range forecast is hinting at a rainy holiday weekend, but let's wait till we get there before panicking. As for the actual kick in the teeth (pictured above), Brazilian Natalia Silva (19-5-1) emerged victorious at UFC 315 in Montreal with a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) against former champion Alexa Grasso (16-5-1). The No. 5 ranked Silva has won 13 straight fights, including seven consecutive wins inside the UFC octagon.

UFC 315 results: Valentina Shevchenko outlasts Manon Fiorot in first title defense of second flyweight reign
Valentina Shevchenko opened her second UFC flyweight reign with one of the most impressive, and perhaps close, wins of an already Hall of Fame-worthy career. The Kyrgyz champion defeated the favored Manon Fiorot (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) at UFC 315 in her first title defense since reclaiming her belt at the conclusion of her trilogy with Alexa Grasso. Advertisement Shevchenko opened the fight looking like an untouchable champion, clearly taking the first round and leaving Fiorot with a bloody nose, not to mention an almost-dazed look in her eyes. Fiorot's response was impressive. She controlled the second round, mostly through clinches, and held on enough to have an argument for the third round. An also-even fourth round ended with Fiorot on the mat again after Shevchenko got he with a counter-right, but the buzzer prevented further damage. Many had the fight even going into the fifth, and it the outcome was still unclear as it went to the scorecards. Had the outcome been dependent on clinch time, Fiorot would have been sitting pretty. Instead, the judges gave it to Shevchenko, who showed she can still do damage eight years after her first title fight. Advertisement The scorecards reflected the close nature of the final three rounds. Judges Sal D'Amato and Chris Lee both gave the third round to Fiorot, then the fourth and fifth rounds to Shevchenko. Guy Girard did nearly the opposite, awarding the third and fourth to Shevchenko then the fifth to Fiorot (we'll take the majority's side there).
