Police say NJ state trooper was ‘acting erratically,' find dead dog in condo

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – A New Jersey State Trooper, Alexander Lark, is accused of firing a gun in his condo and 'acting erratically' on Thursday, according to police officials. The Wayne Police Department received a 911 call from a condo complex at 12:55 a.m. Residents reported hearing a commotion in one of the units, police said. More Crime News When officers arrived, they found a man (Lark) acting erratically in the front parking lot; he had destroyed a stop sign. The responding officers attempted to engage with Lark, but he pushed one of the officers to the ground, police said. The officers were able to restrain Lark and take him into custody. They determined that Lark was a resident of the condo complex. Upon entering the condominium, they discovered a deceased dog that had been shot. A firearm was found on the floor of the unit, authorities said. Lark was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. He faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Charges for animal cruelty are pending, authorities said. The Wayne Police Department notified the New Jersey State Police Internal Affairs Division of the incident.
