On Location: The Watershed Grill on Netflix's VIRGIN RIVER
Welcome to On Location , a weekly feature spotlighting landmarks and establishments seen on screen that viewers can visit IRL. Whether you're seeking a fun selfie, breathtaking vistas, or maybe a show-accurate treat, follow along for some bucket list destinations. RELATED: Follow Charlie Cale to The Armour-Stiner Octagon House, featured on Poker Face 'Last Looks' For six seasons, the lives of the Virgin River residents have enchanted and thrilled Netflix viewers. With Season 7 in production, let's take a look at one of the primary locations, Jack's Bar. While the internal spaces are shot in-studio in nearby North Vancouver, the picturesque — sometimes dramatic — external setting is provided by none other than The Watershed Grill in Brackendale, a small community inside the District of Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2023 The Watershed Grill on Netflix's Virgin River Based on the Robyn Carr 21-novel series, Virgin River is Netflix's longest-running original scripted show. With its seventh season renewal (announced in October 2024), it also holds the record for the longest English-language drama produced by a streaming service. At the heart of the story (and the first novel, also titled Virgin River ) stand Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and Mel Monroe (Alexandra Brackenridge). Mel's arrival in Virgin River kicks off the series, while Jack is a long-time resident and business owner. His bar, simply known as Jack's Bar, serves as a hub for the community, being one of the few restaurants in town. Jack's Bar sits on the titular river, inviting patrons to take their meals outside and enjoy the view. It appears in nearly every episode of the series. John 'Preacher' Middleton (Colin Lawrence) cooks while Ricky Sudder (Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey) bartends and serves. Until his falling out with Jack, Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) also served at Jack's Bar. RELATED: On Location: Cantacuzino Castle in Netflix's Wednesday Many pivotal scenes take place at Jack's Bar. This is to be expected in a venue that provides a place and space to relax and let off steam. Furthermore, people looking to harm Jack often target Jack's Bar, poisoning the food to hurt the establishment's reputation or sending other warnings through other actions taken against the business. In Virgin River Season 2 Episode 10, 'Blown Away,' a local drug dealer puts out a hit on Jack, and the killer shoots him as he's closing up Jack's Bar. Image used with permission from #ShedHappens As Squamish's best burger and only riverside patio, the Watershed Grill is a popular local destination with plenty of folks willing to travel to its tucked-away location at 41101 Government Rd in Brackendale. It doesn't take reservations but is open until 11pm every night of the week. Like Jack's Bar, it sits on the river, although it's the Squamish River. Its website touts that ' our riverside patio provides the best vibes in the corridor. We use local & organic meats, serve local craft beers and offer delicious seasonal features like: tacos, soups, ribs, pastas, appies & more.' The menu is quite extensive, with coding for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and spicy options. Page 2 sports an impressive drinks list, including some tasty-sounding 0% choices. Cocktails that catch my eye are the 'Peachy Pirate' and the 'Shaft.' As for desserts, I'd be stuck deciding between the Mini Donuts and the Turtles Cheesecake. RELATED: On Location: The Encino Commons on Netflix's Cobra Kai The Watershed Grill television persona is far from a secret. Fans have been flocking to the Virgin River site for years. In 2022, the local paper, The Squamish Reporter, featured a story on the thousands of visitors who have made the pilgrimage to the site for various reasons, from curiosity to emotional tributes. The restaurant staff often fields hopeful phone calls for Jack Sheridan. They have even received gifts for the cast members from as far away as New Zealand. Cr. Pull up a seat, enjoy a meal, and raise a glass to the love stories, life lessons, and lived experiences of Virgin River . The Watershed Grill represents the heart of television's Virgin River community for a reason. It invites visitors to take in the world at their own pace and for their own reasons. As the show often highlights themes of healing and redemption, the power of place is strong with The Watershed Grill. Virgin River season 7 could release sooner than you think as star shares exciting update
Virgin River is currently filming its seventh season, which could arrive on Netflix sooner than expected Virgin River season seven could arrive sooner than anticipated, according to a recent update from star Alexandra Breckenridge. The actress, who plays Mel Monroe, is currently filming the latest season alongside co-star Martin Henderson, who returns as Jack Sheridan following the dramatic season six cliffhanger. The storyline picks up with Jack's ex, Charmaine (played by Lauren Hammersley), missing after failing to appear at their wedding, while Mel faces a difficult decision regarding her patient Marley's baby. Although season seven is still in production in Vancouver with no official release date, it is expected to premiere by early 2026. However, Breckenridge's latest update hints that fans might be able to catch new episodes of Virgin River as early as the end of 2025, as she revealed she'll be wrapping up filming soon, reports the Mirror US. In a post on her Instagram Stories, the actress thanked fans for their messages, celebrating her 43rd birthday on Thursday, 15th May. Breckenridge also announced plans to post more content on her YouTube channel, explaining that her busy filming schedule for Virgin River season seven has kept her from creating cooking videos and maintaining her garden. "Because I've been so busy filming Virgin River season seven," she said, "I haven't been able to do all of my cooking videos as much as I wanted to, or keep up with the garden or anything. "But I did start a YouTube channel, which has little to no content on it." In a recent update, Breckenridge assured fans she'd post more videos once her schedule eases between seasons. She teased the near completion of the current filming schedule, indicating more free time on the horizon: "Once I'm done this season, which will be soon," she then sidetracked slightly as she remarked about the state of her appearance, saying, "My hair is really dirty, it's gross. "It's quite humid out here in Georgia, so I'm a little bit sweaty and yucky." Given that Breckenridge is presently at her home in Georgia, there's speculation the Virgin River cast may enjoy a brief respite before heading back to Vancouver to put final touches on season seven. With the current pace of production, fans are buzzing about the possibility of a late 2025 release for the beloved Netflix romance series.

Life's a journey, and it's up to you to pick and choose your destiny. 5 stars TAURUS (April 20-May 20) Look at every angle and see endless possibilities. Let your intelligence and experience guide you instead of letting someone bait you into a no-win situation. Refuse to let ego or stubbornness stand between you and your dreams. Bend a little and strike when the iron's hot. Embrace change with a positive attitude. 3 stars GEMINI (May 21-June 20) A thorough investigation of anything you want to pursue is necessary. Educate yourself, and you'll discover ways to cut costs. Knowledge gives you the power to negotiate. Focus on home, self-improvement and finding the best people to help you achieve your goals. A change of heart will point you in a new direction. 3 stars CANCER (June 21-July 22) Discipline and hard work will pay off. Get your facts straight before you debate with someone eager to make you look bad. Refrain from letting your body language divulge your true feelings. Keep your emotions out of conversations if you want to make progress. Stand firm, but be kind. 2 stars LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) An opportunity is apparent. Listen to what others offer and weigh in on how you can contribute. A partnership looks inviting, but check the facts and figures before you agree to something that may be fictitious. A financial gain is possible if you are willing to do the work yourself. 4 stars SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) Hold your head high and refuse to let the little things get to you. Pay more attention to engaging in in-person events or activities that offer beneficial results. There is a difference between spinning your wheels and getting somewhere. Choose accomplishment, not a "would've, could've, should've" attitude. 4 stars SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) Something won't add up. Personal issues will get blown out of proportion if emotions meet with common sense. Stick to the facts to avoid being blamed for embellishing a situation. Look inward, question your motives and focus on personal improvement instead of trying to change others. Physical activity will ease stress. 3 stars CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) Take the edge off and chill while you organize your thoughts and consider the best way to handle domestic situations that are weighing on your mind. You will fall short of your expectations if you engage in talks prematurely. Before launching your response, figure out what's essential to you. 3 stars AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) You can observe and learn from what's happening around you, but hold tight lest you hitch a ride on a runaway train. Instead, nurture what's important to you, like relationships, money matters, confidence, health and feeling ready to conquer the world. Put thought and consideration into how you earn and handle your money. 4 stars PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20) Choose simplicity and moderation instead of indulgent behavior and overreacting. Avoid being led astray or coerced into something costly or unsafe. Show respect, be polite, learn to say no graciously and walk away. A positive attitude, honesty, integrity and living within your means are the road to a better future. 2 stars Birthday Baby: You are entertaining, playful and competitive. You are tenacious and opportunistic. 1 star: Avoid conflicts; work behind the scenes. 2 stars: You can accomplish, but don't rely on others. 3 stars: Focus and you'll reach your goals. 4 stars: Aim high; start new projects. 5 stars: Nothing can stop you; go for gold. Virgin River fans say 'do not watch' new Netflix show that's 'just like it'
Virgin River fans have been left bitterly disappointed by a new Netflix show that they say is absolutely nothing like the romantic drama Virgin River enthusiasts have been advising Netflix viewers to give a wide berth to a new series that's been likened to the adored rustic romance. The beloved show has captivated audiences for six seasons, with anticipation building for a seventh series to continue following the lives of nurse practitioner Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and her former Marine beau, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). With Virgin River on pause, legions of fans have been on the hunt for kindred spirits in their television line-up to satisfy their craving for homely drama. Touted alternatives have been Sullivan's Crossing, Firefly Lane, and Hart of Dixie, each carrying a vibe akin to Virgin River's heartfelt narrative. Yet, a freshly released series has seemingly failed to hit the same emotive notes, if the sentiments of some disgruntled spectators are anything to go by, reports the Mirror US. The show stirring debate is Ransom Canyon, which follows three ranching families entangled in a longstanding territorial dispute. Taking the lead is Josh Duhamel as Staten Kirkland, who, while grappling with personal loss, finds himself drawn to his old friend Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly). The plot thickens as a mysterious newcomer arrives, unravelling deep-seated secrets. Despite the ripe blend of sorrow, family quandaries and love affairs mirroring those sought after by Virgin River fanatics, a candid Reddit post from one devotee conveyed a different narrative. Their statement read: "Virgin River Dupe - I Think Not. Under advisement of the VR community I started Ransom Canyon and now I know that you all can't be trusted lol. "I quit after one episode and I don't think I'll return." They went on to blast Ransom Canyon for giving off "major soap opera vibes" and thought that the on-screen chemistry between the leading pair was lacking. "They could never compare to Jack and Mel," they added. "By episode one I knew they were meant to be." This outspoken criticism sparked a mixed reaction from fellow viewers. Many agreed with the assessment of Ransom Canyon. One user replied: "Same here. Watched half of the first episode and that was it for me. Nothing even close to VR." Get Netflix free with Sky from £15 Sky Get the deal here Product Description Another person added: "I was recommended RC by at least 5 people telling me if I liked Yellowstone I would like it. "I forced myself to get to episode 3 and I just couldn't do any more. It wasn't believable to me! I couldn't get into it!" However, other viewers encouraged the critical fan to give Ransom Canyon another chance. One wrote: "I just finished Ransom Canyon, and I honestly didn't expect to get this attached. I watched it slowly, really taking my time to sit with the characters and the story. "The show isn't without its flaws, but it made me feel a lot. I've really fallen for this cast and this world, and I think a lot of you will feel the same." A different fan shared: "I enjoyed Ransom Canyon and hope we get another season. Virgin River has soap opera vibes too but I enjoy it also." Will Ransom Canyon be your next binge-watch, or will you hold out for the upcoming seventh season of Virgin River? Virgin River and Ransom Canyon are available to stream on Netflix.
