Mother's Day celebrations in Ottawa

Moms were celebrated all over Ottawa on Sunday for Mother's Day, the day dedicated to honouring moms for all that they do. Saunders Farm held a special Mother's Day Afternoon Tea for 78 mothers and their families. Everyone got to enjoy an array of teas, finger sandwiches, scones and farm-made sweets. 'It's a very special day, right? I know Mother's Day should be every single day, but we have one day that we should show them how much we love them,' says Guil Fernandes, food and beverage director at Saunders Farm. 'I'm here with my two kids, I'm here with my mom and I'm here with my sister,' says Alexandra Sarakinos. 'We love doing high teas. So, the fact that we could mix Saunders Farm, and high tea together was amazing. We were really looking forward to it.' 'We got to come today with my mom. I'm an aunt, so I'm here with my sister and my niece and nephew. We're having kind of an all-generation mother's afternoon,' says Victoria Blackburn, Mothers Day tea attendee. 'I have my daughter here. So, I am a mom. I also have my mother here. We are also taking my grandmother out - a lot of generations here today. Also, my cousin and her daughter as well,' says Brittany Hill. 'We wanted to do something special for my grandma. She loves tea. We thought it would be fun to come out and spend the day with our family and all the moms in our family. We've got a lot of moms in our family and it's an absolute blessing that we still have my grandma – she's 95.' Mother's Day Visitors celebrate Mother's Day in Ottawa's ByWard Market. She's visiting from Newfoundland and just out enjoying it. It's beautiful,' said one resident. Celebrating moms everyday is common for all especially for the children 'She's always trying to do everything for the family. She's just a kind-hearted person in general,' said Tristan. 'If its a driving thing, she would pick up all the people because the people can't drive to like soccer. She picks up them all,' said James. 'She's really kind to everybody,' Chloe said.
