‘Miracle to be alive': Over $10K raised for electrocuted local woman

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Over $10,000 has been raised through GoFundMe for a local woman after she was electrocuted while trimming trees in Abilene. According to Nexstar-affiliated news outlet KTAB, a 22-year-old woman was electrocuted on Saturday, Feb. 15, while working as part of a tree-trimming crew. KTAB reported that police stated the bucket of a bucket truck used by the crew hit a powerline. The woman was burned as a result. She received medical treatment in Abilene while unconscious before being transported to a Lubbock burn unit. The woman is Alexandria Golding, and her husband, Jacob Golding, said that she is currently receiving care at University Medical Center in Lubbock for second- and third-degree burns that cover large portions of her as well as other injuries caused by the electricity entering and exiting her body. She has undergone four surgeries, had burned tissue removed and had biodegradable temporizing matrix — something that Jacob Golding described as an 'artificial skin' — implanted, among other treatments. 'They said she was an absolute miracle to be alive,' Jacob Golding said. 'They said they don't understand how she lived, and they said one of the first things she said was 'I do. It was God, because he's not done with me yet.'' 2 involved in helicopter crash near Uvalde Jacob Golding shared that, although his wife is 'in good spirits,' she is now worried that the severity and location of her burns may complicate their plans to start a family. He said that doctors do not currently know to what extent the burns may affect her ability to breastfeed a child. 'She's afraid she's not going to be able to breastfeed,' Jacob Golding said. 'Her breasts did take an impact, the majority of the burn.' A GoFundMe online fundraiser was created on Feb. 16 to help pay for Alexandria Golding's medical bills. As of the time of publication, the fundraiser had raised $10,250 across 79 donations. Each cent will count, as Jacob Golding stated that he is uncertain as to whether insurance will cover his wife's medical expenses. 'It's been very stressful, it's been a little bit irritating,' Jacob Golding said. With months of recovery now in store for Alexandria Golding, she and her loved ones are requesting the community's help, be it through donations or prayers. 'Of course, any donation helps, but prayer … If God wanted to, He could say the word and she could walk out there right now without a scratch on her,' Jacob Golding said. Those wishing to donate can to visit the GoFundMe fundraiser's webpage. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
