Details are limited; however, in a post on X just after 4:30 a.m., the Alexandria Police Department (APD) said there was a heavy police presence in the 3800 block of Florence Drive following a shooting. Police noted that two people were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown. VSP issues alert for missing 70-year-old woman with cognitive impairment in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. () — Virginia State Police (VSP) are asking for the community's help locating a 70-year-old woman who was last seen in Alexandria Thursday morning. The Alexandria Police Department and state police are searching for Virgie Nadine Goolsby, who suffers from a cognitive impairment. An investigation determined that Goolsby was last seen walking in the 700 block of N. Patrick Street around 10 a.m. on May 15. Youngkin calls Arlington County Board's ICE policy a 'dereliction of duty' More than 12 hours after her disappearance, state police issued a senior alert for an at-risk missing person. Authorities described Goolsby as around five feet and four inches tall, and she weighs around 150 lbs. She has brown hair and eyes and was last seen wearing a black top with black pants. Alexandria police noted that Goolsby is known to walk to the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Anyone who sees her is urged to call 911 or Alexandria police at 703-746-4444. According to a news release, officers responded to the area of 16th and Stracener streets around 2:35 p.m. after a report of a body being found. Police identified the victim as Loletha Bell, 35. Man hit by car dies one day later; driver charged with DWI, hit and run

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — A pedestrian who was hit by a driver on Wednesday died from his injuries a day later. The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said that around 8:40 p.m., APD officers were called to the 4700 block of King St. for a pedestrian who was hit by a car. There, they found 19-year-old Abdullahi Mumin, who had been hit. An electrical pole had also been downed. First responders transported Mumin to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. 23 people displaced after Laurel apartment building fire Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) officers arrested the driver, 42-year-old Jilmar Doria-Medina of Fairfax, and charged him with DWI and two counts of hit and run.
