Avon man returns library book 46 years overdue
AVON, Conn. (WTNH) — A man returned a library book that was borrowed in 1979 from the Avon Public Library on Monday.
The Avon Public Library took to Facebook to share that the overdue library book, borrowed on Oct. 24, 1979, has finally been returned.
The returned book, Democracy in America, Vol. 1 by Alexis De Tocqueville, written in 1840, explores the influences, principles and ideologies of the American Government.
The man told library staff he was a history student at Central Connecticut State University when the book was borrowed.
The book had apparently been sitting on his parent's bookshelf all these years.
