Suspected 'purple drank' found in baby bottle during arrest of wanted Springfield man
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A teenager from Springfield was arrested on a warrant for several firearm charges, and police recovered a loaded firearm and a baby bottle filled with a suspected illicit drug, known as 'purple drank.'
In a news release sent to 22News, at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, a detective with the Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) observed a known suspect who had an arrest warrant from Chicopee District Court for firearms offenses. The detective saw the suspect, 19-year-old Alexis Figueroa of Springfield, as a passenger inside a vehicle on Bay Street.

A traffic stop was conducted, and Figueroa was arrested in connection with the warrant. An illegal firearm was found in his hoodie pocket, and Detectives also recovered a baby bottle filled with what is believed to be promethazine and codeine syrup.
The suspected product in the baby bottle is an opioid cough syrup drink used as a recreational drug. Its street name is known as 'lean' or 'purple drank,' due to its color.
