Salty Dog Day fundraiser in Panama City aids local organizations

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – A one-of-a-kind fundraiser that supports a Bay County organization and community is returning for another year to Panama City this weekend. At this year's Salty Dog Day, organizers will be raising money for Operation Spay Bay and the historic St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership. Operation Spay Bay works to protect local animals from kill shelters while also trying to reduce the pet population here in and around Bay County. The Historic St. Andrews Waterfront Partnership, on the other hand, works to maintain and preserve the beauty of the St. Andrews community. Florida officials investigate Gulf World Marine Park operations Just like in years past, Salty Dog Day organizers say they have added more fun attractions for all who come out to enjoy. 'Every year we try to add a couple of new things to keep it exciting,' said Salty Dog Day Chair Alice Dewall. 'This year, the newest part is bringing it up and down Back Avenue. We haven't done that in a couple of years, so we're just really excited to see everybody and see how many people come out and see us on Saturday.' St. Andrews residents and visitors alike will get the chance to enjoy a wide variety of vendors, participate in activities, and most importantly, elect St. Andrews' new four-legged mayor. This year's Salty Dog Day will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oaks by the Bay Park. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
