JA for a Day event in Altoona
ALTOONA, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Inspiring the next generation of workers is the goal of 'JA for a Day, ' an event that gives local students a chance to explore different careers. 7th and 8th graders at Altoona Middle School were allowed to dip their toes into the workforce. 7th graders were part of a career fair with roughly 20 local businesses to learn about different skills needed for the workplace. Meanwhile, 8th graders toured local businesses.
Organizers say now is the perfect time to introduce students to different careers. Junior Achievement Education Manager, Alicia Klemi, explains, 'The perfect time to get them open about different career opportunities. Maybe what they want to focus on in high school is extracurricular jobs. Middle school is when they're starting to think about the next opportunities after that.'
'JA for a Day' is held by Junior Achievement and the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce
