Marshalltown skimming suspect charged in Newton case
NEWTON, Iowa — A suspect charged in a Marshalltown skimming incident is now charged in a similar incident in Newton.
In August the Newton Police Department announced that two Bluetooth skimming devices were found at the Git & Go in the 800 block of 1st Avenue West. At the time, at least five people reported having their credit card information stolen.

The Marshalltown Police Department discovered similar skimming devices at a Casey's on West Lincoln Way in late December after multiple people reported credit card fraud. Authorities announced on January 3 that more than 30 people reported fraudulent activity on their accounts.
An investigation led to the arrest of three individuals in the Marshalltown skimming case — Alieski Hernandez, 38; Yohannis Bacardi-Bague, 30; and Oscar Alcaraz, 26.
Following the arrests, the Newton Police Department compared their case with the Marshalltown case and discovered that one of the suspects was also responsible for the skimming incident in Newton, the police department said.
Yohannis Bacardi-Bague has been charged with second-degree theft, identity theft, unauthorized use of a credit card, and illegal use of a scanning device in connection to the Newton case.
