Kevin Durant thinks Draymond Green would be an 'incredible' head coach
Although he didn't play in the game, it was a busy weekend for Draymond Green. Following a second-place finish in the Skills Challenge on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors forward made an appearance on TNT's All-Star coverage with Inside the NBA. During his appearance on TNT, Green made multiple standout statements, including guaranteeing the Warriors will win the title, along with a critique of the Rising Stars addition to All-Star Sunday under the new format. Green also made a claim that he was offered the Warriors head coaching position once he's done playing. Following the game, Evan Giddings of 95.7 The Game asked Green's former teammate Kevin Durant about his potential future as a coach. Durant has high praise for Green's coaching future, saying the Warriors forward would be an "incredible" head coach. Durant went on to say he thinks Green would make a better coach than a television analyst. Asked Kevin Durant about Draymond Green's head coaching offer:"I think Draymond would be an incredible head coach... I think he'd be a better head coach than TV analyst." 😂 — Evan Giddings (@evanAgiddings) February 17, 2025 "I think Draymond would be an incredible head coach. I think he would be a better head coach than he would be a TV analyst – and he's pretty good at that. I just think he loves being on the floor. He loves teaching. He loves that competitive nature, competing on the court. And I think if he would go onto TV, he'd just be clawing and itching to get back on the floor. So yeah, I think he would be a great coach." Green and Durant spent three seasons as teammates, winning two championships together with the Warriors under Steve Kerr. This post originally appeared on Warriors Wire! NBA makes it official: No Stephen Curry, Sabrina Ionescu 3-point shootout All-Star weekend
SAN FRANCISO — It was the highlight of the 2024 All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis: Stephen Curry had to get red hot late to beat Sabrina Ionescu's impressive score in a 3-Point Shootout on All-Star Saturday Night. STEPHEN CURRY HEATS UP LATE TO WIN STEPHEN vs. SABRINA! Curry: 29 PTS Ionescu: 26 PTS What. A. Battle. There will be no repeat of the event this weekend in San Francisco, despite it being on Curry's home court and Ionescu being a Bay Area native. Here is what NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement: 'We weren't able to land on a plan we thought would raise the bar off of last year's special moment. We all agreed not to proceed and will instead keep the focus on All-Star Sunday's new format.' Curry and Ionescu talked immediately after last year's contest in Indianapolis about expanding the event, not just having a rematch and running it back. In the minds of the NBA league office, that expansion would involve Curry and former teammate Klay Thomson vs. Ionescu and wildly popular WNBA star Caitlin Clark. Except Clark said no. Clark plays for the WNBA's Indiana Fever, the team hosting the WNBA All-Star Game this season, and that played into her decision, according to a statement from Clark's representatives at Excel Sports. 'Caitlin will not be at NBA All-Star. She wants her first three-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer.' There was no Plan B the NBA league office liked, while Curry and Ionescu had no interest in simply repeating the same event in a new location. So, the best part of the 2024 All-Star Weekend in Indy will not be coming to California.

Steph vs. Sabrina 3-point shootout won't see sequel this NBA All-Star weekend
There will be no Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu rematch at All-Star weekend. The NBA announced Thursday that the 3-point shooting event bringing together two of the biggest stars in the NBA and WNBA — which was one of the highlights of last year's All-Star weekend in Indianapolis — is not going to be part of the lineup in San Francisco. Talks went on for weeks to try to make it happen, even stretching into All-Star week itself. It seemed more than logical that a rematch would occur; All-Star weekend is on Curry's home floor this weekend and Ionescu — who plays for the WNBA champion New York Liberty — is a Bay Area native who grew up watching Curry and the Golden State Warriors. "We weren't able to land on a plan we thought would raise the bar off of last year's special moment," NBA spokesman Mike Bass said. "We all agreed not to proceed and will instead keep the focus on All-Star Sunday's new format." Curry was on record saying he wanted the rematch to occur, and there were talks of making it a 2-on-2 format this year — potentially involving Klay Thompson, Curry's former Warriors teammate, and reigning WNBA rookie of the year Caitlin Clark. The 2-on-2 talks seemed to fall apart in recent weeks, though the NBA had hope of bringing some form of Curry vs. Ionescu back — potentially even including it in Sunday night's lineup between games of the new All-Star Game mini-tournament and not having it be part of All-Star Saturday like it was a year ago. "We've been talking about finding different ways to change this up next year," Ionescu said after last year's event — when she and Curry both made clear, at the time, that they wanted to bring the competition back this year. "I think he has a partner in mind that's going to join him. So, I'm open to any partner that could help me win and take that belt that he has up front and center away from him." Curry beat Ionescu 29-26 in the Steph vs. Sabrina competition last season, the first such him-vs.-her event of its kind at the league's weekend showcase. The competition generated money for their foundations.

Stephen Curry-Sabrina Ionescu 3-point rematch off
February 13 - There will be no rematch of the hugely popular 3-point contest between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu at this weekend's NBA All-Star Game. Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, and the New York Liberty's Ionescu hinted that there could be a rematch after Curry won 29-26 last February in Indianapolis It was confirmed Thursday that despite last-minute efforts to bring back the event, it won't happen. All-Star weekend begins Friday and culminates Sunday at Chase Center in San Francisco -- the home court of Curry and the home area of Ionescu. "We weren't able to land on a plan we thought would raise the bar off of last year's special moment. We all agreed not to proceed and will instead keep the focus on All-Star Sunday's new format," NBA spokesman Mike Bass said, per The Athletic. The report said Curry and Ionescu weren't interested in another one-on-one competition and wanted to include Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and potentially Curry's former teammate, Klay Thompson. Clark, however, declined last month, saying in a statement that she wanted her debut in the 3-point contest to come this summer at the WNBA All-Star events on her home court in Indianapolis. A last-ditch effort by the NBA on Wednesday to lure Curry and Ionescu into a competition didn't materialize, per The Athletic. The failure to secure the rematch must have come as a shock to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who, when speaking to reporters in Mexico City in November, foreshadowed Part II. "They know they're going to be doing this again," Silver said, per The Athletic. "They're looking forward to it. I think as soon as they walked off the court after the competition last year, they said, in fact, they said we need more than one round. So we're going to be doing more." Curry, 36, is a four-time NBA champion and the league's all-time leader in both 3-point attempts and makes, shooting a career 42.4 percent. Ionescu, 27, is a 36.4 percent 3-point shooter through her first five WNBA seasons.
